I'll give you a brief explanation: Everyone in this game all play differently and it's always fun to learn a match-up. While the Pikachus do have everything, they're far from broken. Shadow Mewtwo and Regular Mewtwo are the most busted characters you'll ever face. They hit hard, have range and close ups, and the strongest ults. The phase mechanic is what your figured out. The 3D phase allows you to freely move around and try flank out your opponent while occasionally leaving energy on the ground: allowing you to use your Burst/Synergy mode. The 2D Phase restricts both players from moving freely and have you both confront each other head to head. Hitting your opponents with a grab, strong attack, or hitting them against the wall is a good way to constantly change phases

If you play this game again, I suggest you take a little time to learn more about the characters’ abilities. Shadow Mewtwo is essentially this game’s Akuma. Low health and high learning curve, but the most vicious killer once mastered. Braixen has a kind of gimmick where certain moves speed up the support calls, so they can use assists more frequently than any other Pokémon. Gengar can steal health and meter with grabs. And Crogunk is a joke/troll character that can apply buffs and debuffs to both himself and the opponent at random with certain moves. A few other moves change depending on the condition of either of them, so you really need to learn to improvise with him.

Okay so to give a rundown on this game there's like a rock-paper-scissors mechanics if you press like the back of the joy-con in the are some characters have moves that they can perform while they're in the air what's the shadow Mewtwo is on black Air Force energy you can also adjust the health in this game to make it so that both sides have more health the meter that you use to mega evolve can be charged by these little things on the ground that have a keystone shape on top of that after you pop your mega your stats increase and you gain back health by the way some of this info could be wrong because it's been a long time since I last played

PLEASE READ FULL THING: In my personal opinion with personal experiences, top six fighters in this game (please make this a series, I’m begging you); 6. Garchomp, 5. Sceptile, 4. Machamp and Charizard tie, 3. Gengar, pikachu, and the unicorn (only reason for pikachu is for his ult(same with Sceptile. The games animations go HARD, no Diddy)), 2: Mewtwo and Mewtwo Black, and number 1. Blaziken and Lucario tied for first.
