This game will live on forever I remember watching the SNES and Jaguar Doom videos you made back in 2009 lol

The 90s was great time for id Software. Besides Doom, we also got other great games: Wolfenstein 3D, Quake and Commander Keen.

lol, Adlib music + Raytracing is amusing.

Now they just need to update the music make and keep the sound effects the same probably but that midi audio doesn’t quite match the looks

Yeah, that can probably be changed out I didn't look into it much. The MIDI soundtrack can sound pretty sweet on like a Roland SoundCanvas or something like that though.

@@MN12BIRD yeah I don’t mind the midi, but it doesn’t match the visuals.

The perfect DOOM?

I'd say so I mean it's a blast to play Doom in general on KB/MS with always strife WASD and mouse look. Feels so fast and modern. The RT lighting certainly ads to it all.

Wow that's crazy huh?

This is real-time ray tracing lighting on a very low res texture game, correct? I suspect even in software mode, this would run well.

IDK the lighting and shadows are pretty computationally heavy I mean I can barely run this at 1080p 60 on my RX 6750 XT so that says something! Though check out my newer video showing Doom 2 Ray Traced it might be even more impressive.

@@MN12BIRD I left the comment early in the video but didn't update my comment when you said it chugged. I'm really surprised, though I'm not familiar with the process. I thought it mattered about the surface area being hit, but maybe there's a certain amount of rays being cast which could be adjusted to improve performance but reduce accuracy. I'm not sure reducing resolution would help much. It probably would make things blurry. I recall you saying the game ran sluggish in 720 and 1080 before you switched on FSR, which if I recall correctly is a way graphics cards upscale images rendered to a lower resolution. Sorry, I'm not so up to date on graphics rendering. I thought this ray tracing depended heavily on the texture size.

No resolution really helps here. It did chug a little at 1080p and I didn't directly try 720p but at 1080p with FSR2 on balanced that's equivalent to 635p while quality is 720p so I was basically running it at a much lower resolution to vastly improve performance. With Doom 2 Ray Traced there's an option to run the game at 320x200 256 colors that I show briefly for fun. TBH it still looks really cool like that and runs buttery smooth! I'll post more gameplay of Doom 2 today running at 320x200 but full color (not the 256 color option) and on Monday I have a GBA video that's related to this engine ;) it's super wild and totally not expected. I just found out it existed yesterday. I'll have links to make your own GBA ROMs and it's really easy to do.
