Melee isn’t a war though, because aggression is rewarded in war. This video does a terrible job of illustrating what parts of hungrybox’s play are problematic. He will, literally, jumó off and back on the ledge over and over to reset invincibility / fly away from opponents for MINUTES It’s not even a game at that point, he literally just waits until you get bored and then hits you.

Hungrybox is such a joy to watch, though. He's super chill, and he gets really excited in very wholesome ways. When Jigglypuff got buffed and he found a new rest confirm he was over the moon and his energy was just great to watch.

Hbox became a lot more dynamic as he got better. His early 2010s playstyle was basically running away and camping bair until it got stale

Here’s another tip from a melee fan. That video was made by a guy who had very recently gotten into the scene and is filled with misinformation. I’d recommend you watch the smash documentaries or literally anything else smash related.

There are just certain statements made throughout the video that make it pretty clear that Emplemon had just recently gotten into the scene and wasn’t knowledgeable on every topic he covered. Its hard to blame him with melee’s competitive scene being 20+ years old, it’d be hard for anyone to understand all the nuances of the community. Its fine for what it is. It also just kind of rubs me the wrong way that one of the highest viewed videos that gives exposure to the melee scene could possibly cast the scene in a misconstrued light.
