I'm 35 now, and I remember being 13 with the first SOCOM and buying a network adapter off my neighbor. Figuring I how to install it, and figuring out what an ethernet cord was, and how pissed my family got when that was before we had a router and unplugging everyone's internet to selfishly play SOCOM online. I would stay up to ungodly hours when no one needed the internet just to binge this game. There was nothing like figuring out internet-based gaming for the first time making a successful connection.
@cycomiko738 ай бұрын
This was the first game I played online with my ps2 and that adapter my friend gave me bc I had an old ps2 and I was so glitched on it, playing for hours on end. I played so long and so late into the early morning that I was dozing off and kinda sleeping with the controller in my hands, sometimes waking up dead. Lol I can't stand online games anymore. I don't want to have to count on other people who I don't know to try and have a good time playing a game that coasts me $70 a pop!! I'm all about single player non online story driven, giant set pieces type games 👍 so much better by yourself!! Imo I'm 50 now but to be fair I never really enjoyed "multi-player online games" after a few years of trying it. Plus running around shooting other players for more than an hour gets so dumb and boring to me. 👍 but I'll always remember Socom2

As an individual who spent more than 10,000 hours playing the SOCOM franchise and was in the top 5-7 thousand non-cheating players consistently throughout the life of SOCOM II, I want to give you some advice. This game is one of the most realistic depictions of shooting in a game of its era and if you keep that in mind, you’ll double or triple your K/D. Minimizing movement while shooting is crucial! Tap firing is a must too. Ideally you should lean out from cover while crouched, fire single shots aimed at center mass and then reposition to a spot with a field of fire on your previous position. Tactical acumen is crucial to consistent success in SOCOM. People forget that this game was literally made by JSOC/SOCOM operators’ input. You don’t sprint around the IRL battlefield spraying 100 rounds in the general direction of the enemy, you use every potential advantage to constrict the enemy’s avenues of action, while working closely with your fireteam to create overlapping fields of fire. Employ classic fire and maneuver tactics, bounding from one piece of cover to the next in coordination with your squad, not running into a meat grinder one at a time while assaulting a fortified elevated position. Success in this game is directly proportional to your IQ and the level of cohesion existing within your unit. If anyone wishes to check my bona fides, I was a colonel in KBN and my callsign was SeedlesS. Prior to the first reset of SOCOM II stats, I had 32,000 kills & 10,000 deaths. After the wipe, I was able to pile up almost another 30,000 kills with roughly 8,500 deaths. Our game battles record throughout SOCOM II’s lifespan was 478-43 as a clan. I was also affiliated with DA clan and invested around 500 hours as an instructor for them, covering doctrine, strategy, tactics, etc. I can guarantee that if you take the couple suggestions I made seriously and properly apply them to SOCOM, you’ll be soloing entire ochos in no time. If I had a dollar for every time I calmly and precisely double tapped an enemy that was jumping around like a meth head, firing full auto and failing to land a single round on me before being laid low, I’d have a vacation home and/or a 48 foot catamaran lol. I know the game is 20 years old and that many people don’t take “tactical shooters” as seriously as I and my friends do, but I have a tremendous love for this game and there’s an overwhelming amount of nostalgia for the time period in my soul. This game was one of my first “online” games and no bullshit, I am still close friends with many of my clan mates to this day. We still exchange Christmas cards/gifts even though it’s been 20 years since we met online every evening. I made friends from around the globe and I owe that to SOCOM! It was never just a game, it was a community and I’ll be damned if it wasn’t one of the greatest to ever exist… Thanks for entertaining my lunacy, I apologize for the long ass rambling comment. I hope that, if you keep playing SOCOM, you’ll incorporate some of my advice. If anyone has questions or wants to discuss in greater detail, hit me up and I’ll devote however long you want.

For a game that came out at the start of the high speed era, it ran smooth af even tho we were all going through siblings unplugging our routers and modems to piss us off. Back then it was a PC and maybe a ps2 Xbox that was online only. Siblings like my sisters didn’t give two shits about unplugging the modem because their phones weren’t even online yet.

Id recommend looking into this game a bit more so you can have a better experience. fps will improve with "Map render fix" turned on , within game settings. Also, adjusting your sensitivity settings so your aim is a bit more calm. Keep in mind, that guy going 17-2 on fish hook plays almost everyday, so its expected. Lastly! be aware of common grenade hot spots at the beginning of the round. It's very frustrating dying at the start of every round and having to wait a full round to play again.

With my ideas I want maps from all three games on one CD (compact disk), including the DLC maps. The games with my particular alterations I'm going to want the game prices "CD" at least $139.89 USD. Now before you all lose your bearings. They're going to have to reopen the production labs & studios and rehire employees. Finally I'm going to see if Slant Six wants to sell their maps to Zipper. "Bloodlake/FroggyStyle over and out."
