Here I am, looking for something to do with my 218 and 208c. Layering with midi inspired me!

OK, this is awesome! You got it to sound exactly like a piano while at the same time sounding nothing at all like a piano! I am massively impressed! :)

Well I am using MIDI playing into a software sampler at the same time as playing the 208C, so it's just a layering. Though I do like that combination. And the 208C stays pretty well in tune.

Joel can this work with a Behringer Arp 2600?

Cool demo! I’m curious as to why you chose not to use the Buchla banana cable connections to pulse, pressure, pitch? There’s not a right way of course. I’m just curious as to why you went with midi/cv.
@JoelDavel Жыл бұрын
Electronically it's the same because the 208MIDI daughter card in the 208C/Easel Command has the same CV converters as the bananas on top. And started the idea by playing around with the MIDI velocity that comes out the "from Card" banana when you connect it this way. (Though I didn't really used gate2 much in the video.) So it was a short cut. I could have done it with the banana cables instead though there'd be a slight difference because the MIDI was in poly mode and the top bananas would be in mono, so the octave shifts with pads in mono would instantly change the pitch for the CV when touched as opposed to the next time you touch a key. Small things.

@@JoelDavel Thanks! Great info. 👍 I just got my controller so this was helpful.

wonderful demo!! One question, which outlet is the green cable from?
@JoelDavel Жыл бұрын
"from card". This puts out the MIDI velocity as a CV on the Easel Command. It's subtle use of it though here. You hear the velocity response much more in the piano.

❤️🎛🔊🌀 =Thanx Joel ! ...my LEM218v3 is due for delivery this week. Cool that with CV/Midi that Buchla touch pressure control can be used with all sorts of gear. Really appreciate all the Buchla team's efforts expanding 208c / LEM218. Dug yer live performance with Don & Nannick at Wellesley Boston in 2014. ❤

Glad you were able to catch us in performance! Don always liked to perform. He loved the idea of making instruments that he himself could perform on live. It informs us greatly when we actually try to use the stuff.
