Playing the ClariMate in standalone mode

This seems like a great tool for anyone needing silent practice. I live in a studio apartment and wondered if this device truly does "mute" the acoustic sound while being able to hear it through headphones? Thanks!

Hello! As a digital mute, the ClariMate prevents the reed from vibrating, so the instrument is indeed silent. What you hear through the headphones is the ClariMate's sample-based clarinet synthesizer, which is controlled by your fingerings and your breath

Wait, so I can hear how the clarinet WOULD sound in the headphones, but outside of the headphones it’s silent??
