Hope you enjoy this relaxed, nostalgic video. For those hungry for Episode 6 of HNTTA, that corker will be with you next Sunday (12th Feb) at 8pm GMT (Saturday for patreons) As you may have seen on my Instagram page I am currently filming a mission; one that was quite out of the blue. All will be explained soon, but this is the reason for the delay. Thanks for your patience.

That Erlenau/Münsingen round was unfortunate since it didnt let you go under the under pass, because (as you correctly stated) you would have got a blue sign indicsting the town when leaving pretty soon if you went right after it. If you went left you would have found the train station. Either way, it would have saved you time I presume. Kind of crazy seeing the town my grandma lives in on a GeoWizard vid :D

I'm always impressed with how quickly Tom is able to correlate a place he sees in street view to something on the map. I don't know if there's something wrong with me but I lose track of where I am on the map SO FAST... and there's no way I would be able to find a place on the map, teleport back to start, and be somehow able to figure out that location on the map as quickly as Tom does. It would take me like 10 minutes of going back and forth and trying to remember where I went and which road is which.

Some fun Italy tidbits: "Puzzola" means "someone/thing that farts/stinks"! At the regional park sign, if you looked in the top left it says Emilia-Romagna, although it is blurry. That is one of the 20 regions of Italy, and could have immediately limited your search to a much smaller area, although you found it fast enough anyway! What slightly confused me was the clover on the top right, as that is Lombardia's symbol, although I'm guessing this one is slightly different and is specific to some small town I've never heard of.

Hey. I've recently been put onto your content. Loving it, thanks. As an expat living in BC, Canada (originally from Wolverhampton and I literally got my Canadian citizenship today), I might be able to offer a little tip for the future. Odd thing about license plates in Alberta is that they don't have them on the front of the cars. Not sure if that's don't or can't but you definitely don't seem to see any cars with 'berta plates running one on the front. Also, if you can spot it through the blurry square, the letters on the license plate are red.

@PrincessBerpl
@PrincessBerpl Жыл бұрын
Just adding to this from the dictionary definition: The adjective oriental, which carries strong associations with colonialism and with language that others and exoticizes, is usually considered offensive when used by non-Asian people to describe people of various Asian identities. Its use to describe elements of Asian culture sometimes has a dated feel, but is not usually regarded as offensive. I think adapting your language to be more inclusive and less offensive can feel a bit hostile coming from the demands in comments of a YT video, but I hope Tom can realize that it's not just appeasing the social justice warriors. It's also just a great way to help people feel comfortable and safe. And I do hope that Tom can make further strides to do that for the audience. I gotta say, pointing out a sign and saying "see it's not racist" is a bit of a knee jerk reaction to the people trying to get a rise out of him. He's responding to them and not the people that it will actually impact!

On the very first cross road, even before you checked your compass, there's a 'paddestoel' (Dutch for mushroom) on your left, which shows you the direction and (biking) distance to the nearest towns and cities. There's a lot of those in The Netherlands, especially around biking paths and in rural areas. No road numbers, though. I don't know if the resolution of Google Maps is good enough to read what they say, but if it is, they might help you in other Netherlands rounds.

That Ossining round looked familiar right from the start, even with the weird snow coverage there, looked very N. Westchester 'Hudson Valley' is a broad regional term for all along the Hudson River so only so helpful.

What you can do for next time is look completely down at the ground and point your compass straight north. Then you get the orientation of the road you're on! So it's easier to line up the road on the map!

I have a friend from 'Worb' which is a town nearby Belp, and while looking up her town on the map I saw 'Belp' and it just cracked me up. The name of the town Belp has made me laugh for years. And now it's appeared in your video. BELP!

Any particular reason other than it just sounds funny to you? If you want another laugh there's a town in England called Belper😀

This is indeed how the game is supposed to be played. These videos are far superior to the meta ones. "Short antenna, red car, triangular shape pole with 5 holes, this is clearly [insert country]" Sure, the pros may be faster but they are not geography wizards at all

11:29 HOLY SHIT! That is my Fiance's late grandmother's house. You are on Beech Street in Ossining. They renamed the street to Barbara Klapkowski's Way after her. That is so wild.

TIP! Gaming speedrunners use "live split" to keep track of how long it takes to complete a run. You can also keep track of individual rounds while ur playing. It compares your current times against your best times. It's free and there's youtube videos on how to use if needed.

In the USA, a lot of older Americans use the term "Oriental" without a second thought, but almost no younger Americans use it. Back in their time the word was normal and was used in place of "Asian". Most of the people I know in their early 30's would have no problem referring to the orient as a place, but would always use the term Asian when describing the people.

Yeah, you see it in the name of some old restaurants, like Tom did here, or referring to rugs or other items, but no one under about 70 would use it for people.

"Oriental" is in that weird space where nobody under a certain age says it, but there are still businesses with that name, etc. It is definitely racist, but not on the level that we've seen it phased out entirely.
