Bizarre bugs, insane guesses & crazy tight games (This duels session has it all)

The quest to hit the lowly rank of 10,000th in the world continues in emphatic style. It's a long one, but this video is pretty much jammed packed with juicy games filled with insane guesses. Three different types of bug also punctuated the session, with the stand out one being a bizarre glitch that threw me into Alcatraz jail every time I moved.
I tried to make this one less choppy for you guys, but I simply couldn't leave out a single one of these games.

Somehow our brain is wired that way. I find it equally easy to detect my home country in geoguessr. However, how he knows where the bush is at within Britain is a mistery to me 😂

Taiwan doesn't is unavalaible for the country battle. And if you don't like earing the music in Duels, you can delete it in the settings while playing :) And if you have the clitch again, refresh your page. You won't loose. This was really fun to watch you :)

@@noctis6026 memorising flags and memorising meta stuff is literally the same thing. I think they both need skill and commitment. I do agree with the main commenter though, it is impressive from Tom that he is still able to make those good guesses that didn't include obvious information, which is a whole different type of play (not better or worse) than meta based guessing. I find Tom's style more engaging and fun, so I find it understandable that people are kind of villainising meta-guessers. I think it is better to respect people's opinions instead of sparring an argument.

from listening to competitive players of all types the mental game is truly its own battle. especially thinking "he is a lower rank i should be beating him" that's simply going to make you play worse because you're thinking about that. instead it's important to keep focusing on playing the game and making sure to intake all the information you can which your opponent is surely doing! great vid though and i hope you can get to the top of the leaderboards

Honestly, I would be down for a 9000 video. There might be really stiff competition up there ya know, 7500 is doable for the GeoWizard, but I don't want Tom to lose sleep over a 7500 ya know? Take it one step at a time is how I would have him do it. We will proabably be back at 1300 again in one of the future episodes anyways, so I am down with whatever.

I think you can definitely do top 5000, but it might be more fun to do small increments. Maybe just aim at top 9000 and then change the goal if you see fit?

Two days ago, I also met the same glitch, but not in Alcatraz Prison. It was somewhere in North South Africa. Every round I play, it will always appear in the same place and i lose the game. I still don't know what happen😱😱😱

prison glitch happens sometimes because geoguessr's anticheat is basically replacing the location coordinates with alcatraz coordinates until the round ends. sometimes it glicthes out tho

I'm currently ranked 7203, with a score of 854, and am extremely busy so I only get to play a few games a week. I also don't use much meta. You are a better player than me on most occasions, so I think 7,000 is an attainable goal.

I personally like giving people a minute in Duels but sometimes it can bite me in the posterior when it becomes obvious that they're using Google (happened last week where the other guy got two perfects in a row, I can give him the benefit of the doubt that he recognized a famous museum in Vienna but he also got perfect on some tiny village in Senegal that was on the other side of the country from Dakar).

I'm always interested in any GeoGuessr content you make! That said, within the category of GeoGuessr, I'm less interested in the site-provided rank ladder and weird settings (World map, moving), and more interested in playing other maps like ADW or ACW or others. I think ACW is new since you were super-in-practice, you may find fun all the crazy rounds that were handpicked for ACW. It's a map as tough as it is fun. And, if you're feeling extra bold, you could try to take a dip into Rainbolt Ranked on his discord server, with better maps and no moving making for a more "traditional" competitive environment.
