Apparently this game was based on "Suikoden/Water Margin", one of the 4 Classics of Chinese Literature (much like how Dynasty Warriors was based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms). Huh. You learn something new every day.

oooh, I never put those two names together because I didn't know Water Margin translated as Suikoden in Japanese. This is the one with the 108 heroes, that spawned the video game series with the same name!

Best thing about this game is the music, the mechanic that you can jump off projectiles, and Mizoguchi is crazy in this game

Looking at a move list, the CPU *isn't* cheating with those double jumps. The game apparently has a double jump specifically for avoiding projectiles, where you tap one of the *down* directions right as you are about to land on a projectile.

Hey, Justin. You need to play part 2 to this game Suiko Enbu Fuun Saiki. It's faster, more characters and has grimey desperation moves when low on health and you drop your weapon. It also features Yun Mi and Mizoguchi from Fighters History Dynamite. The game has chain combos while not on weapon stance. It has insane juggles and infintes. The grappler dude with the tonfas has an infinite light SPD combo. I played the hell out of this game back in the day. I mained Taiso/Daizon and Shijin.

Sukio Enbu is a Fighting Game based on one of the four great classical novels of Chinese Literature called The Water Margin. It was written in Ming Dynasty Ancient China and it takes place in the Song Dynasty. It's popular in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, And Japan and i thin it's also popular in South Korea.

This is actually based on a story called Outlaws of the Marsh, Koei made a Romance style game in the 80s based on it called Bandit Kings of Ancient China on DOS.

You didn't learn this game, you can throw your weapons, multiple projectiles as, well as double jumps & I guess you haven't discovered the desperation attacks, weapon breaks. This game is a hidden gem.

Did anyone expect to see the words, "Crab Denier" in any of these videos ever? lol. This game may be in the jankyard and all, but I do like seeing Avatar the Last Airbender in the roster, lol. The fight with Ruan Xiang Qi on the boat at 5:24 (I just looked up his official name from the "Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty" page on HG101. I'm surprised you didn't play that western release, Justin) was just pretty cool. Cheating double jumps, weird hitboxes, input reading, etc. may be going on but, I dunno, looks like Suikoenbu's got some neat stuff going on too. Nice graphics with good colors, cool theming (the same 108 Stars of Destiny thing Konami's Suikoden series is inspired by, the Water Margin novel or whatever), weapon throwing, that Art of Fighting-style zoom camera... I like some of what's going on for sure. And I love watching these vids on my one monitor while I'm playing Breakers Collection and the ACA Neo Geo release of Real Bout 2 on the other; watching Justin play stuff just puts me in a fighting game night kinda mood!

wonderful hidden gem, there are a lot of mechanics in this game, once you learn them it's really deep and fun game. I'll tell you one of them, if someone throws a projectile at you you can jump then when you're about to hit the projectile you use it as a step and jump again.

I own this game on Sega Saturn it's a really good game just have to play it a certain way without the weapons you essentially can do higher chain of combos. I love that its two different fighting styles in this game with weapon and without weapon.

This game is based on the Suikoden series, the 3 guys in underwear are 3 brothers who are all great swimmers in the lore. The final boss was like a guy who died, I guess you are fighting his resurrected zombie.

Check out that music! You're not even blocking and just throwing out random moves. You can throw your sword as kind of a desperation move. This game is my favorite 'bad' fighting game. But it rally is not bad, just a little different. Gameplay is excellent. Backgrounds are weird digitized images and some characters look kinda wack. What will happen if you try this game, you will play it longer than you'de think and you are actually enjoying this game. This is the 'champion edition' there is also the regular first version on playstation and Satuirn This game hasmany secrets, even the move list is unfindable.

Justin , one of these days you should make a video with the same title e.g. “playing this jank fighting game” and instead of it being a relatively obscure title, it should be a well known one, and the whole video you spend talking smack about it and all of its flaws. I bet it would get a rise out of people if you were subtle about it and it would make for some good chuckles.
