George Balikos That’s where the phrase “for all the marbles” came from. I’m not even an adult yet, and I have fallen in love with this game! I just wish I had friends that played it... 😄

As a scoutmaster attending many summer camps, I found a huge advantage to keeping my homesick boys entertained was to simply go to the boys table and leave a bag or two of marbles and go away. within a hour one boy would come to the adult table and ask how to play. I always told them to make their own rules but suggested a rope to make a circle with clear of sticks and leaves. the big marbles were the shooters. armed only with that information they were quiet and smiling actual conversations took place. Adults were not to interfere or enter their area; they had a hierarchy of leadership to work out problems. They game was played many times by all between merit badge classes and our troop scheduled activities.

InkCricket C I learned how to play when I went to Mexico from my cousin who taught me, I was 7 and there was nothing but dirt but I had forgotten how to play since I went back to Texas until now my grandma taught me again. I'm gonna teach my friends how to play too!

In mexico, we played differently. We would hit eatch others marbles, and who ever is the last standing wins. Sometimes we even did small tournaments like this, where we play keeps, and who ever is last standing wins the game, and keeps the marbles of who ever they hit.

Makes me sad that kids are lost to fun games like marbles. They play video games from toddler-hood. They are in strollers playing with their parent's phones. And once exposed, they can't go back to simpler things. But good on these kids for mastering a game where you are an active participant - not just a passive dolt.
@collinknights8692 жыл бұрын
In my home country this is played very differently and we called it pitching. For one, any amount of persons could have played once they had enough marbles when a number was called to contribute to the ring.
