There’s a workaround for using loops on this that doesn’t involve modding the machine, but the cassette. You just do a loop over both spindles, but add a rubber band for traction.

This and some other machines like the aph have the pitch slider, its basically a digital pitch shifter. It was used to pitch correct voice when slowing down or speeding up the tape. I'd love to add a dedicated play head, feedback etc and make a delay with one. Reet gnarly pitch shifting delay

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. Always so worried that the stuff I put out there is of value, so it's encouraging to hear that it is. Keeps me going!

Are you able to record music from a playlist to a tape?? My Dad has one of these but I’m not sure if I can use it for a playlist for my Walkman.
@SycamoreWillow4 ай бұрын
Yes you absolutely could but I really wouldn't recommend it. This isn't a machine that has like crazy good sound or anything. And also it's going to record in mono and you probably want stereo.

great video and nice device. sadly l live in europe and i dont think that device was sold here. do you maybe know an alternative? or maybe some place where they are more common? thanks
@SycamoreWillow2 ай бұрын
I don't know what cassette players in Europe have varispeed like this, but I think you can still find them on eBay and places like that. These are made in Japan so I think they did ship them to many countries.

Just one more thought, a really common cassette player that has this feature is the United States library of Congress machine. They're kind of pricey but they're very very cool

great video, I just bought an old Sony secutive BM35 which may be the biggest waste of $25 ever or once I get it back from the guy who is "checking it over" for me it could be a revelation. Somehow I think he is going to tell me it's "too hard". I saw it and thought it might be great for lo-fi guitar recording as it has a unidirectional mic for recording conferences. Also a telephone input which could be handy I hope. The guy I took it to repaired a really old tube radio and its now a great little guitar amp so he knows how to get stuff going again.

Heh, part of the fun is getting your hands on something and seeing what the heck happens. Experimental music is all about discovery and all the risk that comes with that.

Hey there, thanks for coming by! In the video I used two cables that terminate in a 3.5mm connection. Late reply but I just got one off eBay with the foot pedal for 55. 60 seems to be the average now based on sold listings.

Yo. This video is pretty old now so you may have already figured this out, but if you still haven't been able to use tape loops in this player, Caleb Parker has got the fix for you. No mods to the machine itself, just the tape. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJWZZXhmg9aKpa8
