Over 15 years ago I made one Lemoyne Star block in a quilt class. Getting all eight points to match up in the center was impossible. I ended with a star block with what looks like a nipple in the center. One of the students cut the center (nipple) out of her star (and covered the hole with an appliqued on Yo-Yo). She did a good job; because, it looked like it was supposed to look that way. After I made that one Lemoyne Star (12 1/2 in block), I never wanted to try making another one. All thoughts of making a full sized quilt top (with many beautiful Lemoyne Stars blocks) left me during that class. I am now much older, and hopefully much wiser. It is time for me to try making another Lemoyne Star (following your instructions). Thank you for this video (which I get to watch as many times as I need to).

Well if YOU of all people can struggle with that block then I dare say most of us will rename that block! (But not a name that can be said on line!) I have tried this block and I don’t find it worth the stress. My favorite way to make it is as you mentioned is to do the no y seam method! I hope your day improves! Love your channel!

Perfect timing Brenda! Making a quilt for a grandson and this is the alternate block. I’m not following a pattern but I want to use the diamonds with the set in seams. He is in the high school marching band and I’m using a large bunch of music fabrics. Know the diamonds will be a bit more fussy but want to keep the fabric piece intact as I have a good selection of drums. He is a drummer. Serendipity! Btw, I used to own a horse with that name when I was a teenager. I honestly don’t know how you keep up the pace that you do. Not only making all these blocks and quilts, but also the time for the videos. So thanks from the bottom of my heart.

You have asked about the camera angle. I like the over-your-shoulder angle much better. On this particular block, the camera was a little high. I couldn't always see what your hands were doing when I needed to. It wasn't a big adjustment, just a little higher than I would have liked. It was still better than when your DH was across from you.
