My first ever character in Vanilla was a Human Mage, but my PC at the time (I use the term "PC" very loosely, I was trying to play on a weak laptop) couldn't handle going to Stormwind. I would lag so much that I'd ever get stuck disconnecting forever, or it would take me LOADS of log-in attempts and DCs to get in and out of the city. I figured I'd choose the next best thing in a Night Elf Druid, and totally fell in love with them and their lore. Now I almost exclusively play night elves. Teldrassil->Darkshore->Ashenvale may be one of the most satisfying starting experiences in Classic, imo.

I am very excited to watch your WoW Classic journey. Important: be patient! Yes, WoW Classic can be slow and even 2 opponents can be a threat, but I find Classic even more rewarding than Retail. When you achieve something in Classic, you really deserve it. They call it retail because for a long time classic wow was only available on private servers, and modern wow was the only version purchaseable. Now both are technically retail but the naming stuck around.

Just a random note, when you target an animal such as a mouse, deer, or chicken and you type /wave your character will wave at them. This unlocks a small side quest.

My first ever toon was a night elf… this brought me back to February 2007, holy hell dude! Watching you experience and he in momentary awe of the artwork and such was a flashback to my own experience and one of the many reasons I fell in love with the game. I love this video and have twitch subscribed. 😊

My first ever and all time favorite character was a night elf rogue. Started back in 2004 shortly after the game launched. I was a senior in HS…what a journey. By far the best multiplayer gaming experience of my life.

Writing this without knowing if you eventually know this or not, but for you (and others wondering the same) the reason why the live game is called "Retail" was to differanciate it from private servers back in the day, as you could play private servers by downloading the client online but to play on official Blizzard servers you had to buy the actual game from a retail store. When Classic was announced, the playerbased continued to address the current instalment of WoW as retail while the vanilla version was coined "Classic"

It's funny what assumptions we bring with us. Omario assumes that Tauren can't wear helmets. Going into vanilla in 2004 i assumed every dungeon would have a ton of traps so i better make a rogue to disarm them. Tauren can wear helmets fine, and in almost 20 years of WoW there had been maybe 3 dungeon disarmable traps.

I'm glad you're back to playing WoW! I enjoyed your Let's Play of retail and I'm sure this time will be even better now that you've got chat to help you with some things. So glad you went night elf again because Teldrassil is an amazing starting zone that I wish you would've been able to experience when you started retail, but alas, on retail new players must do Exile's Reach. You are right that Tauren's armor can look weird on them. However they also have a cool starting zone. It's very peaceful and serene. Probably the best Horde starting zone in classic.

Don't think that the leveling experience you had on retail is anything similar with the vanilla leveling. It's alot slower, grindy and overall hardcore. For a new player though it's pretty fantastic and since you enjoy character emersion it's gonna be a great experience. Have fun!

I love that you're continuously pressing 1 to attack faster, I think we all did that when starting the game. I'm sad you didn't stick with the druid though, it would in fact have been just what you were looking for, a "Battle Mage", although I guess that could also be a Shaman

You make your RPG characters with immersion in mind and you just started up a game that I played since 2003 (private server with limited stuff to do) and officially since 2005. The racials really don't mean so much, the main thing is the different starter zones and different ease of access to specific mounts, classes, and questing/leveling routes. At least prior to cata, dwarves/gnomes and orc/troll share starter zones/initial leveling routes. My favorite starter zones are night elf>dwarf>taurens and my favorite leveling routes up into the 30s/40s are dwarf/gnome>night elf. My advice? Night elf priest, Dwarf paladin, human mage, gnome mage, night elf druid, human warlock, gnome warlock, dwarf hunter, or uhh no, that's about it for alliance. Rogue is insanely good for pvp, but you seem to have an aversion to them.

You are still picking your class as we speak, but I'm also a magic-user by nature, I'd go gnome mage or warlock if it was me, simply because shadow priests aren't so hot in vanilla, but if druid catches your eye, they can do ANYTHING, you just may have to get used to fleas.

For the warlock your summons always end up dieing after a certain amount of time anyway I believe, so you don't have to worry about their health or anything really. Just good little helpers when your out numbered

My first play through I hit Max and got all my gear from pvp afterwards. I loved that first playthrough. ❤. I was a night elf feral druid that could heal a little bit. It took me /played 460 hours to hit Max level because I enjoyed the adventure so much and the fighting in pvp ❤️ I wish everyone could experience wow classic properly. The world would be a better place 😂

Recommendation: Write in the description of some episode the current state of your character for non-twitch viewers. For example in the youtube video you are level 20 but in the description is written, that you are already level 27 and in zone X.

Dwarves aren't actually short for earth standards. Someone did a size comparison if the races of Azeroth were on Earth and Dwarves would be 6ft tall. It's just that the other races are super big. Humans are like 9-11ft tall in WoW

Same old playthrough with same race....boring...and holy sh!t it took 45 minutes of playtime to still only be lvl 2! Buckle up, this playthrough will take 3.5 years to get to 60. FYI on Classic the avg. time per Blizzard for a player to reach level 10 is 30 minutes.

Just your opinion my friend. There is an entire community that not only disagrees, but think the opposite, like me. Maybe he will like it, maybe not. But talking about leveling, retail isn't even about leveling, it tries to make leveling short as possible so you can make to end game. Classic in the other hand is consistent in the entire experience. Anyone who played a lot of both knows this.

You say that, but when I open my twitch right now, 3 of the top 5 streamers are streaming in Classic, and none of them hope to achiev the end game, they're just playing for fun and enjoying the ride. Not to mention that last patch from Dragonflight just released. I guess Classic and Hardcore mode is more popular than a brand new patch? And more important in the opinion of a lot of people? I'm starting to wonder if you are slow or smth to understand a simple thing to understand. It is just your opinion ;)
