As a cabinet maker just out of apprenticeship last year it's really exciting to see. I wish they'd teach us more about hand tools and how to use them, not just the basic "how to plane a board to dimensions"

I’ve converted over to a lot of hand tool work as well. The set up time decreases as you get used to the tool, and the accuracy and finish of the joints does as well. Took me a good week to get the hang of a plow plane. Well done.

This has been a great series. The planes used to make the drawer runners was fascinating. Good if you've got them tho :) I like your comment on how effectively the old tools work - people tend to go for the modern technology "because it's new, must be better". I use a Stanley No.50. I find pre-scoring the edge of the proposed cut with a marking knife gives a cleaner edge than without any or even with the scorers fitted. Further scoring using the marking knife as the cut goes deeper also helps for a sharper finish.

We've seen you use hand tools in the past so was a little surprised at your comments at the back end. I can understand as a commercial shop you have to get the pieces through and to your customer. So maybe more hand tools use when you get back into the shop?? Looking forward to it. Keep your head up and keep smiling, I'm sure all will be well after the lock down ends.

Hello! Great table you made! I followed the process every time you posted a video on KZbin. Thank you for the interesting movie. :) And also, I really liked your magic box with planers. :) In one of your videos, you made a long groove-dovetail and used the tool from this box there. I even then drew attention to the plane you used. If you have time, could you show and tell in more detail about this tool, how it is arranged, which blade and can I manage to try to make myself a couple of such planers.? Thank you again. It's hard to gauge what you mean by quicker. Or, perhaps more precisely, how much quicker. How long did this take you? How long would it have taken in the workshop? Great videos. I've really enjoyed seeing someone, who does this for clients, work through issues vs the more production (as in Hollywood production) workshops I see around here. Thanks so much.

Our government has put a total lockdown in place where we cant leave our houses for 4 weeks except for food and medical . After the 4 weeks I should be able to go back to work in a limited way.

I wonder what you will build next? You're probably running out of stock at your house so consider this. When I was a kid playing around at my dad's work bench (I had my own set of miniature tools), I decided to make copies of the coffee table and end tables that were in my parents Livingroom. Yes I had some help and the spindles were not quite round, but they did look like the full size version. I was filled with a sense of accomplishment at the age of 8 or 9. I'm guessing that yours are younger but how about involving them in some way while building miniatures using the scraps from the build you just completed? Just a thought. Take care.

You used super glue on some joints. Isn’t that kind of brittle? I know very little about superglue, it appears to be a fast and easy glue to use.

I can't watch this anymore. Something I can do in 2 minutes with a router bit, you are doing in 20 minutes with hand planes. Just too frustrating!!!! Not my cup of tea. Good luck.
