Sony’s biggest mistake was deciding to become even more greedy by not even considering ps5 backwards compatibility for ps4,ps3, and ps2. Instead they want you to pay for another service.

And the service is dog shit. I tried playing Sly Cooper and the Thevious Racoonus, and the Mz Ruby boss fight is damn near unplayable. It’s gotten to the point where I’m just gonna buy a ps3 and another copy of the Sly collection.

@@GeneratedHalo The Daxter game looked fun from what I saw of someone playing it, it also fits between 1 and 2 and is made by Ready and Dawn whom also made The Order 1886 and were made up of ex Naughty Dog and Blizzard employees. I never played Lost Frontier but I understand Daxter gets a Dark version [ Dark Daxter ] which totally goes against the canon storyline.

I get it, but to cut it some slack: 1. Eco powers were cool 2. Ship segments weren't terrible except for that missile level 3. Daxter has pants 4. Keira is finally using Sage powers that was hinted in the first game, just to never come up again.

Hold on, what's the problem actually? Jak and Daxter 1-3 were given the HD Remasters for PS3, Vita and PS4. I believe that Jak X is also available for PS4. Now, they release The Lost Frontier. So only the Daxter game is missing. I believe, tha'ts quite good tbh.

No the PS4 version of 1-3 are just emulation, they're not the remasters we got on PS3 or Vita. Granted the remasters were just the original games with new textures and a couple bugs fixed, but we didn't get those in PS4.

I have a strong feeling its due to the Metal Gear crossover content in the game, Sony likely doesn't feel like its worth working with Konami to get AE3 up, likely the same reason they included the UK dub of AE2 on US PSN, they likely didn't want to deal with any legal issues of getting the US dub up on PSN. Noticeably as well, none of the rereleases of Metal Gear Solid 3 ever includes the Ape Escape stuff they did on their side of the crossover as well, but there was versions without that content they could rerelease, Ape Escape 3 doesn't have that advantage, they'd actually have to modify the game, which I doubt they'll do.

I would love it if Sony tried to work with the OpenGoal team to give their PC ports official releases for PS5 & PC, but that'll never happen sadly. Re-releasing Lost Frontier is proof enough that Sony doesn't care about this franchise anymore.

I've never been a huge fan of the higher playstation plus tiers. I'd rather buy my games outright than pay $135/$160 a year just to have access to a specific set of games that can be swapped out at a moments notice

I always dreamed of a true remake. A remake using the original draft of Lost Frontier script, BEFORE it was outsourced by Sony. Yes, there was a prior version. When Naughty Dog were still working on early stages of development. And the original version had no Dark Daxter™ in it. And better dialogue. Have you seen the 2 leaked pre-production videos? And yes, Daxter should have been released first.

It's such a huge bummer that PS3 was left in the dust. So many games will die with that console. The PC versions of that time era were generally dogshit unfortunately. Trying to play games that are almost like 20+ years old on modern PCs just doesnt work well sometimes. God of War, Jak, and Ratchet, and Sly are seemingly stuck on PS3 with no means to return properly. The HD collection releases of those games are basically the last good official way to play them. At least Jak has a PC mode though. Not sure if you heard, but KH1 has an active decomp project which could lead to a perfect preservation of the original PS2 version. It also will help people understand the code of the game as well.

​@@16BitKamekThere are some odd moments: In The digital version of Sly 2, the dialogues "fades in" while they talk and that's hard to ignore. The Ms. Ruby boss fight is pretty ruined, cuz the rhythm is off. That should never have happened.

I want the classic Crash and even Rayman games available on newer consoles so I hope we can someday see Crash 1 - Racing and even Bash (and maybe even the PS2 titles) either it's on PS5 or the Xbox Series and Rayman 1, 2 and 3 also, also cause I'm kinda starving for a new Rayman game, but also cause I want the old games to be more easily accessible either it be ports or remaking them and releasing them on the current consoles, like the Switch or PS5 and as someone who did grow up with a PS1 and it's library I'd also like games like: Lego Racers and the PS1 Hugo games - with that said, I hope the rest of the Ratchet and Clank games comes to PS5 too, like the PSP once and speaking of PSP even the Sonic Rivals games would be nice to see brought over

Good video! I appreciate the warning about The Lost Frontier. I've loved the original Jak & Daxter trilogy and Daxter, but was curious about Lost Frontier. Glad to hear I can just safely skip it and not miss anything. I agree that game preservation is important and it is a shame as the decades pass, many classic or retro games are still exclusive to their original consoles (and many go for a pretty penny in the retro gaming market). I'm sure it can be difficult and/or costly to get proper rights to certain games so they can be re-released on modern consoles. Hopefully things get worked out so many more older titles can released on modern gaming services. For example, I wish more Sega Saturn's exclusives could either be re-released or remade on most modern consoles, but that is just a pipe dream. 😅

That doesn't make sense. These are emulations just like the rest. Quality will be similar, unless you're referring to the outdated launch versions of the original 4 games (which have since been improved through patches).

i really wish naughty dog would make a smaller department in there studio to make a jak 4 as like a lower scale game compared to there big AAA games that come out once a decade. or maybe hand it off to the astrobot team and remake jak 1 to guage interest. like a new jak game doesn't need to have an insane budget to get started.

Yeah decided to hook up my ps4 for the first time in years and wanted to buy the sly cooper collection to play it again and then found the playstation plus membership change where that is the only way to play them which i could just not justify paying $160 to play those games

I did like something’s from the Lost frontier but I did get stuck on this one level and I couldn’t leave the area which made me quit the game but I may try it again and finally beat it. I would like to see ape escape 3 sly cooper and inFamous 1 and 2 on ps4. Lost frontier isn’t the greatest tho but I don’t necessarily hate it or dislike it.

I think the issue is that their emulator for PS2 in particular is still pretty bad. It does sound like they're getting help to improve that and it also sounds like they're in negotiations with publishers on bringing more PS2 games to the service. If that's the case I'm hoping Xenosaga and the original .hack games come to the service so they're at least playable on a modern console, seriously the last games in these series are ludicrously rare and expensive and are some of the best JRPGs on the system. I'd also like SMT Digital Devil saga and Devil Summoner as well. As for Lost Frontier coming to the service before Daxter you've got me, maybe the emulation for Daxter isn't as solid as Lost Frontier's was. I'm sure Daxter will show up eventually though.

As a game part of the series, it’s easily the weakest. However, in gameplay terms, It’s a lot better than it’s slagged for. It’s not the best, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not an entire steaming mess that’s it’s been made out to be. So I don’t know, I like them all equally and like to see the upsides as well as the negatives.
