This brief chess scene at the very begining was supposed to be a subtle tease at Microsoft. Consider the design of the buildings and the colors. Also the style of the outfit the kings are wearing. The White King was supposed to represent the Playstation 5 console's kingdom and the Black King was supposed to represent Microsoft's Xbox Series X's kingdom. The story was depicting the strategic war between the two rival companies for market dominance. As we saw at the end of the teaser, Sony's kingdom conquered and emerged victorious.
