100% worth it! For my fellow gaming Husbands and Dads out there. Lemme paint the picture: You get home from work, greet the family, shower up…and instead of ducking off in the game room for the night, you grab a beer and hangout on the couch with your Portal while the wife cooks dinner and the kids are hanging out on the other couch watching Disney on the TV. Now your family feels like they’re not LOSING TIME with you, just because you’re in the same room with them. That’s honestly the way I benefit most from it. I can still game while being around my family. They love it and I love the fact I still feel connected in the moment with my family (even though I’m knee deep in Team Deathmatch) 😂 Even before bed. Instead of mindlessly scrolling on social media, i get a few games in while in bed. Definitely helps that Im a little more relaxed while gaming. Definitely worth it. 🙌🏾

@lebavu826011 ай бұрын
Very good point. Could be a cost saving reason or perhaps they didn’t have enough time to implement and push that design/testing through for release. Not all usb c flavor is the same so I don’t think they can push out a software update for this feature request since the portal usb c only do power and no video/bluetooth out. But I do agree with u that they could/should have borrowed the psvr2’s usb c protocol to future proof this feature. My only future request is for them to allow custom button remapping on the portal. Currently the custom button mapping on the ps5 appeared to only work with the dual sense controllers and not the portal buttons (I tried). So hopefully they update this on the ps5 system or in the portal’s setting page since I don’t see that option either in the portal. Crossing fingers.

I think that everyone in God's green earth been yearning for a PS Vita 2. Maybe this is the precursor to that. Esthetically I think this device is beautiful. I love the fact that the grips are actual controllers and not thin like the Nintendo Switch. The upload portion I think a lot of people gloss over but it is extremely important to verify within your own network before getting into this device. Most people think about their download speeds but very seldom consider the upload speed. Does everyone needs this probably not, but I see more people buying this than what it is expected. I remote play using my steam deck and that works amazingly well. There are a couple of steps into getting that set up but when done properly it works well. Hopefully PlayStation copies this device and give us a PS Vita 2 soon. If it looks like this I would buy it in a heart beat. One disappointing thing about this device is the lack of Bluetooth, and the need to buy Sony licensed headphones to be able to use them with this device. Other than that great video. Keep the good work and it is refreshing to hear a non biased review. This device has been dragged through the mud just because it is not a PS Vita 2.

I'm glad Junder you said about the Portal not being for everyone, because you are spot on with that one. Don't get me wrong I can see the use case scenarios for this handheld and power to you if you are one of them, but that being said don't expect it to work outside of your home because depending it most likely WON'T happen. And don't expect it to work on Public Wi-Fi that requires you to accept their ToS, because it DEFINITELY won't work because there's no browser.

I beat the MW3 campaign on my Portal while visiting relatives for thanksgiving. I was 200 miles from my PS5 and tethered to my iPhone 13 Pro hotspot (AT&T LTE with 1 bar reception, not 5G). It maintained 1080/60 the whole time with zero frame drops. I definitely think I got my $200 worth from Sony this time.

@blueridge8992 Жыл бұрын
@@HdezJorge13 it’s not a gamble, and how it works is not a mystery. Sony provides the Remote Play network requirements in plain English. The Portal can have as low as 30 millisecond latency, but if you’re network has 100ms ping then that’s what you’ll get on the Portal. So what happens when you get stick drift in a years use?
@yafi621411 ай бұрын
I saw that they might or will add a streaming feature, I assumed that you could then stream directly without connecting to a PS5, but now that I see you couldn’t stream on the PS5 while using it, it might’ve been what they meant with the streaming feature. For me personally, the Portal would only be worth it if it’s not dependent on the PS. Otherwise I’d just use the iPad with a dualsense controller since it’s the same remote play anyway, with added benefits, but also not for all use cases, for mine definitely.
@thebobo016711 ай бұрын
You can definitely do that but your gameplay won’t be near as good as the portal. Any other device you stream it off of will have network traffic from other apps and will increase your game delay. Ps portal is made to stream and stream only.
@yafi621411 ай бұрын
@@thebobo0167 I don’t disagree. It might be the way to go for many, just not for me, since I’d very rarely have to use it. Also, in my experience, it wasn’t that bad on the iPad, I could clear a whole area in Bloodborne (I guess it’s obvious why this as an example) with no issues and it was a mediocre internet connection. But still, it’d be amazing if they could make it work without the PS5. One connection, less power consumption, no pairing. 🤩

@Rocksteady72a11 ай бұрын
@relzoid4128 You seem to be getting caught up in some weird details lol. It was the first I saw, not the first ever, and the distinction is irrelevant. It literally looks like a controller - any assumption of it being a console is an assumption on the user's part, especially with Sony only referring to it as a way to access your PS5. As for it's usefulness, that's going to be dependent on circumstances. For some, it may be useless, for others like myself, it's been absolutely invaluable
@Rocksteady72a11 ай бұрын
@relzoid4128 To answer the question, for the portability. During your rant, I was playing on it before I went to sleep. Without it, I wouldn't have gotten the chance because my PS5 is in another city atm. "Well just use your phone!" Then you don't have the controller aspect of it, nor the screen size, but I mean, have fun tearing your phone case off everytime you want to play something, only for your phone battery to evaporate after a mediocre play session.
