@@gg_sheed yeah bro I mainly play FIFA or “FC” & I’ve enjoyed Astro Bot a lot recently. My one complaint is that the screen hurts my eyes after a long day of gaming. Before my portal they never hurt or got as dry.

@@kevinrod14grab some blue light glasses from target for cheap bro. Most smartphones and tablets have a night shift built into them which eases strain on your eyes at night, but the Portal doesn’t. Blue light glasses will ease the strain produced from the LEDs

@ latency is non-existent on my portal. FC is actually one of the best games to play on it. The only games that don’t work flawlessly are FPS games because the analog sticks are ever so slightly smaller

100% need one if you have a young child or children in general, been a total game changer not having to be on the tv as much anymore, and being able to game wherever.

I feel like the portal was made for the working parent. I just can’t glue myself to a couch or desk anymore. I’m always on the move even at home. So I will definitely buy this. My internet speed is at 500mbps so I’m sure that’s more than enough.

After the recent update and modifying my Wi-Fi settings a little bit PlayStation Portal works amazing now. In my opinion, the streaming platform is ironically better than trying to stream for your PS5. Not really sure why but I've been running uncharted 4 streaming it straight to the portable and it's been great.

Dude I was just thinking the same thing. Even with my ps5 being hardwired via Ethernet it's like still a bit laggy and low res when trying to connect to my PS5. But the streaming feature works just about flawlessly and with great resolution

I got the 30th anniversary portal for Christmas and love it. Compared to my steam deck, the portal having proper haptics and a larger 1080p screen is a super awesome upgrade.

I can do all this from my Rog ally ..including ps plus cloud steaming with out using a ps5. The biggest reason to pick the portal over any other device would be if u want the controller input to be nearly 1:1 with a ps5 other then that I'd suggest people get a portable pc instead. I had the portal, Rog ally, and steamdeck all are door but the ally have more power for most use cases... Get an ally.

Same, took me a couple of times to even get it to work remotely & I have great internet but streaming a game works fine straight out the box.

I’ve got 1GB internet with Orbi Satellites for WiFi around the house but found the remote play terrible. It always gets pixelated or drops connection. I’ve not tried the cloud streaming feature yet though, but I really hope it’s better.

Is your ps5 connected using Ethernet? Also the orbi satellites are good for a mesh system but I would first try to make sure your ps5 is connected using Ethernet and then get as close to the main router as possible and try it. Just to see if the issue is your WiFi setup

So do you need a subscription if you aren’t gonna do that cloud thing and will have it connected to your ps5 And also can someone else play on your ps5 with the tv on a different account while you use this

Nope no subscription needed if you aren’t gonna use cloud streaming. Totally optional. If you are using this then someone else can’t be playing the ps5 at the same time even if it’s a different account (unless you were using cloud streaming)

It’s not really a gaming handheld like the PSP that had its own movies and games for the PS2 time like PS Vita that had its own games for the PS3 you can’t put physical games in it I have no idea what Microsoft has up their sleeves if they can really come up with a handheld it might be like this PS remote player I didn’t buy one cause it’s a console alone

I got one with a new console for Christmas but I have had a Steam Deck for 11 months now and I’ll say just save some more money and get the steam deck instead but if $200 is all you have & all you play is PlayStation ONLY then go for it. I dont have kids so I can’t speak for those who have to share a TV in their family room so of course the portal is a game changer for parents & travelers. I play on all platforms including Xbox the MOST so Steam deck best fits my needs. I only got a ps4 years ago for exclusives but didn’t want to upgrade to a PS5 until GTA 6 had a release year. I just didn’t play on PlayStation enough until the last couple of months. I wanted spider man 2 but realized it’s time to upgrade lol It’s the need for internet all the time to use your portal which is the most annoying part. Other than that I like the portal and the streaming options but unfortunately a $18 fee per month to actually stream is another issue. Shouldn’t have to pay for the most expensive subscription if you already own the digital content & shouldn’t have to turn on your console either just to remote play but I think Sony could have done way better than the features for $200 as well as enabling Bluetooth for all headphones. The portal should operate regardless of you having a subscription or a console. It should operate as a portable console & not a remote. Reason why I say just get a steam deck, I will never regret that purchase. $200 to remote play is wild af, ngl especially when you can remote play off your $1000 iPhones etc with your PS5 controller without spending a dime 🤷🏽

I’ve just purchased a Portal, sometimes when I connect it to my ps5 for the first time that day I get this message ‘ ‘can’t connect to your ps5’ I have to restart both devices, meaning this could cause issue when travelling. Any ideas?

Try enabling UPnP in your router. Also hard wire you're ps5

For cloud streaming right? You need the “premium plus” subscription specifically. Without this you can’t play the games using cloud streaming at all. But with it you have access to all the games. You don’t have to buy them

It’s nice that it integrates touchpad support but the virtual button config is wonky. The display sucks & there is still something to be said for streaming ps now on a steam deck & just plugging in a ps4 controller tbh. Or streaming ps now on any portable pc with OLED support & plugging in a controller. I have used an Aya Neo Air as well as a steam deck.

I don’t know how you can just go back to standard fair displays in 2024. Even if you are using an isp panel on a pc if it’s an AMD pc & almost all portables are, there is a setting in the software referred to as “vivid gaming” that will create the highest possible color saturation for an isp panel & that display is going to look so much more vibrant & lively then this portal that it’s not even funny. It’s just sad.

its only worth having one if you own a PS5 because if you buy one just to use the cloud streaming its not worth it you'r better off getting a steam deck or ally so you can take your full game colletion with you. im not saying its completely pointles after owning one i can honestly say i have only used it for about 5 hours since it launched

I wouldn’t say it’s worth it, if you have an IPad it does the same thing and can connect to your ps5 controller, and if you don’t have an IPad, might as well buy that rather than the PlayStation portal

Word I agree if you have an iPad already then you probably don’t need the portal. It is a little more convenient to use than an iPad though

It’s not that anyway. You still need to connect the gamepad to the iPad. This complicates everything and the gamepad can be turned off periodically. You can’t play lying down and on the road either. Portal is much better for games.
