Sure, it costs more (and can do more) but as I also have to get those Sony earbuds -because, let’s face it: no way I’m shelling out 200€ to play wirelessly on the couch to then have to plug in a cabled headset- the difference in prices isn’t that big any more.

i was playing on my macbook using the remote app and a native ds-controller.. but now its kinda neat having a handheld without balancing a laptop on my knees :) i like it so far but the ui felt kinda bare bones starting from the lag of showing battery percentage and missing some quality settings from the app like resolution and frame rate to compensate bad network signal

@@xavier7316 As of now yes, but the new CEO of the PlayStation platform division, Hideaki Nishino, has confirmed that the Portal has the capacity to support cloud gaming and that it is something that they are interested in supporting in the future. There is no timeframe provided, but given the success of the device, it's very likely to happen sometime in the future.

I have a really good WiFi / 2.5gb network setup. No traffic at all on the network and this thing just glitches so badly. I’ve tried everything. Watching this video to re package it to return it incase I’ve missed something. So sad because this thing looks and feels amazing. When I play on my Microsoft Surface or even android, there’s no glitching at all.

It’s a a great little device for people around the house, but my idea was that it would work on the go, for example if your travelling on a motorway for ages and you’d be able to play whatever. Sort of like a switch but a PlayStation version.

PS Portal!!! I have watched close to 30 videos regarding the PS Portal because I am trying to figure out if I want to jump into this. I feel PlayStation has done something unique with this system but at the same time has missed an opportunity to innovate. No cloud support for me is a big letdown considering this is a cloud system. And I believe there are plans to integrate this later but that is a big if. Also no Bluetooth seriously? It seems to work as a remote device should provided your internet connection can sustain it. Dualsense has a common problem with their stick drifts. 6 months into owning a ps5, the controller experienced stick drift which can be remedied with a little breakdown of controller and cleaning, yet it's a persistent problem that requires constant attention. I can only imagine ps5 portal having the same problem with the build being identical to dualsense.

Had my ps5 for over a year and own a psvr2. Never had any issues with stick drift. This is a non-issue that only haters bring up on Sony product videos at this point. Hall effect joysticks, disassembly and cleaning the joysticks, using a recalibration tool, and not having a dirty room are all solutions to this common across all brands issue. Xbox and switch controllers have the same issue. Either catch up with the times and go and complain on those hardware videos as well or stop complaining and clean your room mister.

Lucky me I've got around 1gig of download speed in the leaving room and around 200 mega in the rest of the house so wifi connection should not be to much of a trouble. I am running this with wireless headphones (not the Link ones coming). The solution I have found needs a Skull & Co audio stick (designed for numerous devices including the PS5) for round £25. I’m using Sony WH-1000XM4 over ear headphones which I have had since they came out and I wasn’t keen on purchasing another set of headphones at £200+. So if you want to use Bluetooth wireless headphones then take a look at the Skull & Co audio stick. It plugs into the USB C port on the front of the PS5 and then just pair the headphones. It’s possible to pair 2 sets at the same time.

For anyone thinking of taking this on holidays be aware there is no browser so hotel networks which require a password to be entered on the web page .. well there is no option ! !!

It's not steep. If you think it is steep then buy a controller hook for your phone. they're $15.

The reason to get WIFI 6E and 6Ghz is to have a band free without interference. Here in city, the 5Ghz is saturated

If it were possible to connect the psvr2 via usb c to the portal, this would be an absolute game changer. psvr from anywhere with good wifi. ofc they missed that opportunity.
