The boomerang controller for the PS3 was actually the first controller for the PS3 console because the people wanted something new, so after the release. People hated it. So Playstation went back to the dualshock controller and added just a PS button

You should try using a boomerang controller. I had an Alps boomerang for the PS1 and it really felt amazing, it’s much more ergonomic than the DualShock. When i saw that prototype before release i was so excited seeing my dream controller, and so dissapointed when they just reprinted the existing one for a third generation.
