I do believe the cell architecture is actually “better” on a power efficiency standpoint if the software is actually optimized to run on it. Very few developers actually went through with the trouble of properly optimizing though because it’s so different from x86.

It was PowerPC with a rocket strapped to it, but Sony didn't understand developers of that platform and assumed they were going to continue the splintered programming that the PS2 had with it's divided MIPS architecture. The 360 was more successful in this area due to their API handling most of this extra FX fluff for you, opposite of the PS3 that needed it to be done manually - hence why it took years for games to 'get good' on the platform. This FX crap that was anchoring the console's success is a staple of Nvidia's awful FX architecture that lost them millions in the 5000 series GPUs, obviously this is why both Microsoft and Sony have steered clear of them since.

Also in my alternate timeline, Mario Party 5 and 6 are one perfect game with 5's music, sound and story mode and 6's minigames and item system. Also there's a third Colosseum game where you get a Leafeon and a Glaceon. We'd also get Battlefront 3 and in addition to OT and Clone Wars eras, it would have content for the Old Republic and Legacy eras.

One thing that is a bit forgotten is the fact that the xbox one didn't launch simultaneously in all european countries. In my country ps3 and xbox360 were pretty even. Then the PS4 came out and Microsoft decided that we would be one of the countries that had to wait one more year for the xbox one to release. This tanked the marketshare of xbox and now sony owns a far larger portion of the market share. The fact that Microsoft is too USA centric in it's marketing and sales strategy doesn't help them much outside the USA.

It's really simple. Playstation has the best first party exclusive games. Nothing else really matters that much. If you want to play God of War or Horizon or Spiderman or Last of Us or Uncharted or Bloodborne etc, you buy a Playstation. Ultimately I think they will become a more software focused company, but for now they win the hardware market as well.

Thank the gods for the PlayStation. Otherwise we would never would’ve had the great games (series) that are. Metal Gear Solid, FF7-, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Soul Reaver, Tomb Raider, Chrono Tigger, *GOD OF WAR* , Devil May Cry, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Shadow of The Colossus, Uncharted, inFamous, The Last of Us, Detroit Become Human, Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne etc. so it’s a very good thing on Nintendo for their short sightedness on that one. Otherwise we might’ve only been stuck with the kiddie games

"Exclusive don't sell that much" except exclusives were never meant to sell tens of millions of copies. They were meant to motivated gamers on buying a certain console based on a few unique games they had. If PS4 & the Xbox One had relatively identical hardware, then the SOFTWARE would be the deciding factor. And seeing how as PS4 exclusives tend to be far better than the Xbox One exclusives, it's easy to see why many gamers would pick up a PS4 instead of an Xbox One. That created a snowball effect because now more people would buy the PS4 in order to play with their friends online. Sony and Nintendo understands this. They were geniuses for it.

It didn't outsell PlayStation in the US last generation, or this generation. It did out sell PlayStation last generation for a long time, but after the generation cycle was finished PlayStation have outsold Xbox.

I love the nostalgia of playing my old PS2. Ace Combat 5 is my favorite PS2 game. My sister has a PS4 but I mostly play Xbox One games such as RDR 2 or online games such as World of Tanks on my PC. Anyway your your videos are art man. I am going to watch again just for the aesthetic.
