When they say Ghost (冥人), a man from the dead, the connotation is that he doesn't adhere to rules; a wandering man who lost everything. Samurai are trained to fight with honor, a very strict set of rules. For example, stealth killing is definitely not allowed (i.e. imagine ninjas, that is a NONO for samurai). Since he "died" once and he is filled with a vengeful rage and feels desperate, he engages in these dishonorable fighting methods, hence his mentor warning him of the path he is taking.

Take with a grain of salt, but looking it up a bit on the internet some people on the samurai social status that actually took the job of a shinobi, which are basically spies. I don't know to what extent, but it seems that most of the modern view of samurai comes from the movies, which is what Ghost of Tsushima is based on. Doesn't really change your info, but it is interesting to know how it actually played out in real life.

Wait what?! You do know that the Bushido guidelines were invented during the Edo period to stop samurai attacking peasants right? Having a huge population of warriors class without a war meant troubled which is why the belief of unwavering loyalty to your lord would deter samurai from bullying peasants as they work for the lord. It’s a bit strange for you to mention a vague set of guideline that was invented and popularized 400 years LATER ghost of Tsushima was set in.

Sony has delivered amazing games this gen but sometimes they play their cards too close to their chest. Spider-Man and HZD are two examples of gorgeous open worlds but both are filled with that gender's tropes (fetch quests, pointless collectibles and some boring side quest design). I just hope SP show us a little more innovation and variety with this game.

It depends on the language they used for mocap. I was hoping for the japanese speaking mongolian to have a mongol accent but they didnt hire one apparently so it’s a little weird for me (I speak Japanese btw). However they did a great job nonetheless so it will be tough for me after all

Could be because of the genre, people usually expect fantasy and magic but this is grounded in realism. I personally can't wait to see what Sucker Punch will do with a more straight melee focused game, with close combat and stealth action.
