So it's kind of like tomb raider in the sense that it's not linear yet not open world but split into many separate Large locations to explore. I think that was a great choice the devs made.

Upgrading Atreus’ Bow is definitely the one thing that I’m glad I saw the importance in early on(spending XP on)… his bow WILL help you out in combat more than anything else if you use him correctly. I PROMISE

You can hold your shield up when the "Ancient" uses laser beam against you. 0 damage to you.

Also if you get the frost of the ancient light runic attack it is built just for stopping them. Obviously this is old but it helps alot

My biggest tip is to make sure to make use of the luck stat. It directly impacts the amount of XP and Hacksilver you earn, and it can make a difference between running out of both currencies while trying to experiment with various styles/items and stressing out, as opposed to having that comfort in knowing you can spend the money. I ended up starting over almost from scratch almost 10 hours into the game because I didn't invest in luck at all. It's also one of the more difficult stats to improve upon, so hold on to any enchantment or item that will boost the luck stat, as the difference is significant, especially early on.

Most studios these days are trying to make games "more immersive/realistic" by not showing enemy health and health bars and as much as i like immersion i hate this idea. So its great to see that in God of War we will be able to see HP bars of enemies :)

That ancient kicked your @ss lol Cool video and i agree with every single point. One thing i wish i knew before playing: Enemy health bars are color coded for difficulty. While enemy's difficulty won't scale, you'll be able to know if you're ready (strong enough) to fight am enemy based on the color of his life bar. So don't fight an enemy with a purple bar, come back and fight him later.

Once you upgrade Atreus all the way and learn how to parry properly, you pretty much become one giant wrecking ball destroying everything in your path with ease. Upgrade Atreus as fast as you can. He makes everything so much easier.

I brought this game matter of fact last friday and i love the new mechanics , the new storyline & weapon & gear upgrades. Also i have to admit that the kind of open world map system i had to get.alittle used to. Also i had to adjust to the new location , i was used to Ancient Greece....and i think this takes place in Midgard. It was a delight to see him through out the journey with his son Atreus with help from the Witch. Overall its a excellent writting storyline game that's next Gen. Mechaincs and awesome upgrade system. The only downside is with open environment available some of the available quest can leave you overwhelmed. If you dont complete the side quest while you in that area or do character favors it tends to be confusion and sometimes require multiple travel through out the map to complete them. But overall an excellent game.....

I'd play a real God of War game first, if I were you. This is as much God of War as the new Tomb Raider is Bayonetta, matey. It's just a baffling, out-of-nowhere, weird-ass The Last of Us/Tomb Raider hybrid. Whether that's a good or bad thing is your choice. For me, I'll stick with the originals. In other words: This is far, FAR from a real GoW game.

On the first point: There are some puzzles you run into that you don't have the tools to complete before you've learned that the game isn't linear because up until that point the game has been. So I spent like half an hour looking around that area trying to figure out how to solve that puzzle before I looked it up and learned you have to come back later.

Your stat level is far more important than the actual bars. The higher your number goes the easier beating you enemies becomes and the more damage you can take during battles. Also, Ilvadis armor is the best armor I could find as far as raising your stat level goes. You need a ton of mist echoes, those will be one of the most valuable currency later in the game. Also also, upgrade Atreus as fast as you can. Atreus upgraded all of the way is very helpful and formidable. There were certain battles that you can literraly do nothing but use him and you will win. So when you're fighting along with him it gets alot easier as well.

I'd add a couple points : 1.) Spend your XP 2.) Don't forget Atreus when spending XP - Atreus can be a massive damage dealer but you really want to unlock ALL of his skills. They are lower cost to unlock them as well, so no reason to hold back.

Atreus looks like Pandora 2.0, in the third game Pandora dodged by herself, helped with the puzzles and never stood in the way...the kid here seems to do that AND actually help in fights...I approve his presence at Kratos side, it pleases me ù.u

I was already hella geeked for this release and now that I know just how massive the game will be in terms of play time and all of the rpg elements I am even more excited. Multiple playthroughs with different builds will all but guarantee that I'll be playing this for months on end. My one concern is that the game is so beautiful from what I've seen thus far that the 25 to 50 hour completion time will likely increase tenfold due to taking and sharing pictures of everything. Thanks so very much for this phenomenal and as always spoiler free look at one my most anticipated games of this generation. I just got my PS4 in February and this game is one of the main reasons for that purchase.

With the runic attacks try to experiment which one match well with each other and if you want to use the heavy hitter for damage, the fast ones for combos, or a little bit of both. It all up to how you want to play and your playstyle

This has been a wonderful time period for game franchise reboots! There were so many bad Alien games, maybe one or two good ones a while back... then a really, really bad one that we all got way too excited for... then we got Isolation, which looked back to what people loved about the movies to make a great game. I loved it. Then we got Doom 2016 coming back with a huge bang, rip, and tear, from the decent but not exactly Doom-tastic Doom 3 and a very public brutal dev hell failure with Doom 4. They looked back to their roots for inspiration, and it paid off with immense brutality. I loved Doom 2016. Then Resident Evil made an excellent return to form with VII. I loved that spooky business. And I've never been the biggest fan of Legend of Zelda games, but Breath of the Wild took my breath away... and for the first time since Link to the Past I had fun playing a Legend of Zelda game to the point I couldn't put it down. I loved Breath of the Wild. To be honest, I don't much like the old God of War games. I liked one or two, kinda sorta. But THIS looks like another excellent reboot to make me passionately swoon over something I had enjoyed before but was never quite ready to say "I love you" to. This magic needs to spread to the likes of Final Fantasy and Halo.
