For me it was Tales Of Vesperia, (you know that one long lasting JRPG series Rob NEVER talks about). In most Tales games, levels, equipment, skills CAN carry over....provided you have enough experience or Grade. Thats right, you purchase perks based on how good you did in each battle when you start New Game Plus. But theres also ultimate weapons for each character that one more, hit of damage per attack for every enemy you kill with that weapon, but you cant even use them properly until AFTER you beat the game. Beat it on hard and a harder difficulty is available. Beat THAT difficulty and another difficulty rears its head. Rita, already the most OP character, cant even FLY around spamming spells until end game. I spent over 100 hours on the XBOX 360 Beta game. And now they've FINALLY released the finished product to us with content spilling over the brim. Rob, I love you and all of your videos, but seriously the Tales of series needs to be in your video rotation. Its a series that has remained very faithful to Playstation.
@valkyrie-randgris5 жыл бұрын
Definitely did that with Abyss and Symphonia. Tried to do it with Berseria, but I just couldn't be bothered on that one for some reason. =/ Same for Vesperia oddly, even though I'd rank that as one of the better Tales of. Abyss and Symphonia got at least 5 or 6 full playthroughs each throughout the years though, many of them one after the other.
@Alex-mb2cy5 жыл бұрын
I am about 60% done with the Story in Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and I must say, this game deserves the praise it gets and even more. So glad it got rereleased, what other Tales games would you recommend?
@TalesOfBrian5 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-mb2cy I would definately agree with SF442. I was so mad at the main character in Tales of Abyss that I LEGIT quit playing for 3 months. Without giving anything away there was a town and miasma. A cut scene later I was horrified at ehat happened thanks to the protagonist. Anyway, I realized what a great job they did crafting the story and fleshing out the characters. To make me feel that raw anger, thats saying something. The party felt it too. What a great game! The bad guys are all pretty amazing too Tales of Symphonia definitely shows its age, but with so much to do, multiple endings, I soon looked past all of that. Again, bad guys dont disapoint either. It even has a sequal but I cannot reccomend it. Not only do they try to replace party members with monsters, I.E. Pokemon, but most of the cast comes back and the voice actors werent all the same. I dont blame the Tales studio, we were lucky at the time to get the sequal. But the voice actors are different enough to be jarring, cinsidering youll spend 80 plus hours playing as one that sounds so different. Tales of Graces F is lauded by a lot of fans as one of the best as well because of the combat system. But I have to be honest, I hated that game, until I beat it. You get some really incredible abilities after you beat the story. And you can any or all characters fight like any other player character. The combat is great too, but never did I care about any of Grace's characters, good or bad. But end game and replayability are still high, given the abilities. Xiliia and Xilia 2 felt unfinushed to me. Xilia was ok, there were characters that stood out, but end game sees you revisiting a lot of places youve already been, even the bonus dungeon sees you warping to parts of previously played fields. The later fields feel very empty too. Opposite of Graces F I initially enjoyed Xilia going in, but by the time it was over I was happy to be done with it. Xilia 2 was worse, they gave us a silent protagonist, and it did not work for me. Literally all the fields and dungeons that were in this game were here too. They also featured fractured versions of those same dungeons and fields, so to me, the entire game felt like it should have been an expansion instead of a game. It actually became a chore for me, making sure I collected every single kitty made it really drag out. But at least all the voice actors were the same. Xillia 2 was literally the opposite premise of the first. I never once enjoyed what we were doing in the 2nd and I was pretty shocked how my entire old party from the 1st game was so willing to go world killing. Maybe thats why I enjoyed Tales of Zesteria so much. It was more light hearted than Xillia 2, and I liked the characters. This is a controversial game though, theres a lot of people that didnt like it. Personally, I liked it better than Tales of Berseria, a game that completely changed how we viewed skits and a game I felt like they tried to make dark because of the success of Vesperia. I did enjoy Berseria though. Another black sheep I enjoyed was Tales of Legendia, but take that with a grain of salt. Most people hate it, you should at least youtube the combat. Battles are random, encounter rate is annoying, and the combat style is NOTHING like the others. The combat was created by the Soul Calibur team, yet somehow its...well not good. But I really liked the story in it, even enjoyed the quarky Elvis singers. Again, Legendia is considered widely to be the black sheep though. There are others but those are the ones I recommend, with my opinion on them.

INSIDE was the game I restarted within 2 hours of finishing. After I saw the ending, I went and watched some videos explaining the dystopia and plot to see how my own theories hold up; learned the locations of all the secrets, ate dinner and jumped right back in, and played the entire game through again to pick up all the secrets.

For me it was the new Ratchet and Clank. I only got it free for the PS+ monthly. Loved it. Was just a fun game to play and collect everything. Especially with NG+ to unlock even better versions of the weapons. That and Spider-Man. That game was so fun and short enough I wanted to do it all over again

He knocks that Gollum impersonation out of the park!! God of War made me play it over, and over again until I had all the armor sets I wanted crafted, and fully upgraded. And, of course.... Skyrim... you just have to play the game with different races, and playstyles. I had 9 characters rolling at once, but then, kids happened.

Devil May Cry has always been one for me, mainly because over the course of the game I do really feel how I am getting better at it but once I finish the game I'm nowhere near where I can be and I have not even remotely unlocked every skill and upgrade so in order to get everything out of the game I kinda have to play it multiple times and with the mission select I can also just go to the levels I liked the most. Onimusha is also one, due to how well paced and short the game is it's really easy to get back into it and unlock all the stuff, like the Oni Spirits minigame, then complete the minigame to unlock ultimate mode for the main game and then play the main game in that mode for some nice catharsis destroying every enemy with the strongest weapon. I played through the Remaster three times in a row in a single day.

Yes. On the third game alone I've sunk 50 hours (and that's only the remaster, no idea how much I played the original) on what would otherwise be a 3 hour game, trying to S rank everything and use every combat style. That being said, I have no inclination to replay Devil May Cry 2: Press Shoot to Win.

I was 5 years late to Red Dead Redemption. So I purchased a copy one January and proceeded to play until completion. Once finished, I started again. Once finished a second time, I set myself the challenge to complete the story 100% in one sitting. What a wonderful Thursday that was.

I wonder if Rob's managed to get to 100% on FFX-2. That not only requires you to play through everything a second time, BUT make all the other decisions so that you see every possible story fork... actually there's not many ways the story branches.. I mean it's FF, writing more than one story was hard enough. Still though, the major story choices are well, major choices.

This. I only played Dark Arisen, because by the time I really knew anything about the game and decided to give it a try DA was already out, but I played through this game probably a dozen times on my main character alone. I know I put ~700 hours in on my primary character and played on all the difficulties, maxed out way too much stuff, and got all the achievements (sadly it wasn't on PS3 or I'd have the Platinum to show off) but since the game only allows on save file per account I don't remember the overall total because I made more accounts just to play through it again without losing my main account.

Always did at least 3 playthroughs back-to-back-to-back on each of them to see all the differences (and then took a break and went back to them later). Pretty fun to try to get the "best world state" and then the "worst world state". Always started with a really nice warrior who tried to help everyone, then immediately made an Anti-Mage Mage who tried to kill everyone ("There can be only one."), then usually tried out whatever I thought the story was tailored for specifically.

Ratchet n Clank: tools of distruction. About the only real time I can remember starting right after I finished and worked my way through it again within a few days. In my defense, it was the first Ratchet I had played [just last year] and my mind was blown. So I played it again to further destroy the remaining parts of my brain. Before jumping into the sequel. So fun!
