I’ve have this problem with 4.25 and above. It seems like Epic isn’t spending a lot of resources on keeping the mobile tool compatible. I’ve had it work with 4.24 and below though.

Does it manipulate the real time performance on mobile devices. I mean to say that it is computer hardware that is being used in processing and graphics. On mobile it should run fast while we are processing it on computer, right? How can we know if it is optimised well enough for average devices?

@@Fasirathore essentially this app is only for testing mobile inputs. But it’s important because it’s the quickest and easiest way to do that. Performance is something that will need to be measured when the app is installed on device. And you’ll need a full array of different gen devices to test on if you want to be thorough.

You’d probably want to have the .ipa or .apk file on their device (so they can playtest the game individually and without an external computer) and for that unfortunately you’d need a Developer’s Kit. What you could do, and I don’t really recommend it because it’s a lot of work, is send them the project file and have them use Unreal Remote 2 using their own computer at home. It’s really clunky though, the Developer’s Kit would make way more sense haha.

Oh strange, I also have an iPhone 7 and my primary project connected. The app really is super finicky though, only about half my projects have been able to connect. There’s not much troubleshooting assistance online either.

That is a great question with a long answer lol. You can make a game for ios entirely with Unreal Engine with a PC but you will eventually need a computer that runs MacOS if you want to have custom app icons and if you want to put your app on the app store (so basically eventually you will need a Mac).

When you're early on in your development I'd recommend using the free method of testing explained in this video however later on you'll need to get an Apple Developer's License ($99+tax per year). The Apple Developer's license will let you create security certificates, key pairs, and mobile provisions which are needed in Unreal Engine to create a built version of your game for ios (an .ipa file). The Developer's license also lets you upload the .ipa to the Apple App store and gives you access to a great way to Beta Test your app before it's published on the app store. It's a long road to getting an app completed and on the app store but it's not impossible! Hopefully this quick overview helps point you in the right direction!

The app is pretty finicky. There's so many factors that can affect the viability of the app. I finally gave in and got a developer's license from apple for $100 so I can package my projects.

You can definitely develop for iPhone and iPad using Windows. The only changes you’ll need to do is package the project to the specified platform.

Sorry I had to issue a correction in the description and pinned a comment because the app is not available for Android. Mobile play testing for Android currently requires packaging the project and installing the .apk to your device as far as I’m aware.

Correct. From my testing it works on 4.24 and 4.26. For some reason it simply wouldn’t connect for me when I used 4.25.
