The new WIPEOUT has lame music. FUSION has the best music Ive heard really puts you in a trance so you can be in the game check out the new one and you realize the music is important

@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 it's funny to me how Pure (the game that came immediately after Fusion) is lauded as one of the best, yet it's soundtrack is easily the worst of the entire franchise (not counting the menu track which is beautiful). Fusion beats it and future entries by a landslide, barring some notable exceptions like 2048, Smart Systems or the Fury DLC music.

I couldn't remember the name of this game, but i remembered the box art and cover and how crazy it was to play it. I just came over my church friend's house and we were talking about PS2 games and he mentioned Wipeout. And thats how i rediscovered this long lost treasure. Gonna have to find a copy to play it

that's why the progression system is a thing, as you progress through the tournaments, you gain credits which can be used to upgrade your ship. put some credits on the handling statistics and watch the crafts soar through the tracks like it's no big deal.

Played this heaps back when released. Got really good at it and nailed the courses. Then when Wipeout Omega came out I was never able to get the hang of it, felt always super slippery. So I always missed this one.

apart from the first three and 2048, it was the only time the Wipeout franchise shaked things up a little, then they proceded to release the exact same game not once, not once, but THRICE. admittedly it's a good game, but Fusion feels like an evolution of Wipeout, a path not taken. for me it's the Twisted Metal Black of the series.

I remember disliking this game so much as a kid, and I was as huge of a wipeout fan back then as I am today. Upon retrospect, i realize that though it may still not be my favourite, it wasn't all that bad either. It had its own charm and it brought something fresh to the table that very few of the other Wipeout games did ... and that was lore. It was such a massive story-driven game. So many key moments happened in this game, and it helped bring the franchise even more to life

XL/2097 fixed the physics and that game was released in 1996! I still think Fusion was a regression from Wip3out. It was far too forgiving and the attention to detail of the aforementioned games was absent.

I wish Sony UPLOADED THIS ON THE PSN!!! Cmon!! My review: The game has some cool things (graphics, sound, tracks, length) but some things are annoying, slippery control,also changing routes in the tracks, or open areas with obstacles, not very wipeout things. I am a huge wipeout fan and I have bought sony consoles for this game alone (ps2 and psp). I need more wipeout games. Btw, I bought PACER last week and it is great. It was done by wipeout 3 staff members and the driving is a bit like fusion.

I find it interesting how much more dystopian in vibe this game is compared to the other wipeout games The alarms baring as you emerge into the track, the ominous sounding race announcer, the more dangerous track designs, the edgier music, excessive and powerful weapons, emphasis on aggressive racing and the bulkier uglier looking craft designs (with rockets on them?). It ties perfectly into the in-universe lore of corruption and greed that has tainted and rotted the sport of anti gravity racing.

Wipout 1 2 and 3 on ps1 really gave the feel of anti gravity floating feeling,this game was a big disappointment. God knows why they changed it,it felt like the crafts were stuck to the track way too much.

Not a bad game but easily the worst Wipeout. Handling model feels like a clunkier version of Quantum Redshift, and the way you snap down onto the track after airtime is AWFUL. Completely unnecessary upgrade system. Ugly vehicles and crass aesthetics in general. I get the sense that they were trying to make it more "American" in an almost condescending way. The only good thing about it is the course designs, which are more Episode I Racer than Wipeout, but the courses are the best thing about that game too.
