Hello, my friend. I'm interested in swapping the face of my 2012 Mazda 3 cluster gauge (the plastic sheet with needles), without replacing the entire cluster, which requires reprogramming. I'm wondering if your mileage was saved somewhere after you unplugged the cluster from all wires? Is it a plug and play if I want to do so?
@gigi19mai15 ай бұрын
The mileage hasn't changed! In the video I forgot to take a photo before and after, so I took a photo of another car with the original colors. That's why the mileage is different.

I know this video is 4 years old but I'm trying to do this to my Mazda 6 2010. would you be able to tell me how you did the extra added led strip around the cluster to make it shine around referencing 10:37
@gigi19mai14 жыл бұрын
It's a bit hard to explain but I'll try. First I installed a LED strip for the full length of the metal part that is located under the cluster (min 0:14) than I trimmed the cover (min 0:06) for the full length at the base (less 1/4"), that way the light beam will go through the gap without showing the led bulbs.
@davidbailey40978 жыл бұрын
I have a question! When you remove the needles from the cluster, is there some sort of trick, or are you just forcing it? It looks like you struggle a bit with the fourth on. When I fiddled around with mine, they weren't coming loose, and I don't want to force anything unless I am sure that that is the thing to do. Thank you for the video!

My Mazda 3 08 already has a stock Bluetooth navi system installed on the dash. So where you put your navi/radio, I'd still have the radio. So if I did this, it would still be red. Is there a way around the radio area to change the leds to blue?
@gigi19mai16 жыл бұрын
You have to take the radio apart, screw after screw and you'll get to the LED s. The LED s for the buttons are not far, right behind the front cover.

Quick question after watching your video: I took out my instrument cluster from my 2009 Mazda 6 and when I put it all back together the instrument arrows on the 4 items, fuel, temp, speed, tach does not seem to line up right. They come right out and basically go right back in and I figured once you start driving they would just adjust but it dont look like they are, any suggestions? Nothing really appears broken. You did yours with no issues so how did you reconnect the dash arrows. Thanks.
@gigi19mai110 ай бұрын
I had an issue with the speedometer. I drove the vehicle with the cluster connected and without the glass, which gave me the option to manually adjust the speedometer in comparison with the speed recorded by a GPS device. All the other gauges have to be logically reinstalled. For example, see my video at 10:34. The tachometer is below 0 when the engine off. Rotate to stay at 0 when the engine is off. For gas tank, fill the tank to full, then manually adjust it to full. You only have to do this once.
@darnellwoods55804 ай бұрын
I'm having this issue as well, my temp gauge wont read correctly any points on how to get that back right?
@345hpSSCamaro4 ай бұрын
@@darnellwoods5580My issue happened back in the summer of 2023, I took the cluster apart to mess with a light and messed up the calibration. I had to get a new cluster all together. I will share that place with you if you need me to? You can't take those medal thin rods that go into the instrument cluster circuit board and connect to the actual needles that show your temp and speed out. Once they come out it messes up the calibration and your screwed. Not sure how the guy in the video was able to as he would have clearly messed up his calibration and you can't fix it no matter what. I have tried everything on my own. I think on cars that are like 2007 or newer you can't do that too. Not sure the year exactly but older ones like early 2000s and before you can without an issue, I believe.
@adrianramos25867 жыл бұрын
hey i did it on mine and now the needies on my gauges are all out of place how did u line yours back up
@gigi19mai17 жыл бұрын
I drove one day without the clear cover so that I can adjust the needles. For the speedometer I used the gps speed to adjust, for the tachometer I measured the rpm before (around 800) and adjusted to 800 right after- whit the engine on. For the gas, I anjusted to same off position as initial. I could also compare with another Mazda for verification. If the needles are loose, you can add a drip of super glue, but only after you are completelly satisfied with the readings.

I have a 2007 Mazda CX-7 & I want to change out my dash lights from amber to blue. The dealership wants a small fortune to do it for me. Is there a way to buy a circuit board already equipped with blue LED's that I can install? I'm too afraid to try replacing them myself & I don't know of anyone that knows how to do it for me either. I'm SO tired of looking at the amber lights in my dash because they seem harsh vs the serene feeling you get with blue. I just don't want to spend a fortune doing this. Any suggestions? I figured out how to disassemble the cluster gauges & put it back together. I'm just not willing to monkey with the circuit board because with my luck I'd destroy it somehow.

The reason that I have to replace it is because someone turned off the airbag light with a screwdriver and my car has an annoying noise every 30 seconds.

You could first try to find the buzzer and have it removed from the motherboard. The new cluster that you will get from Ebay might actually show the mileage of that cluster (in miles or kms) - I think that's the only issue.

I personally wouldn't recommend doing it this way. By taking the gauges needles out with that metal pins they sit on you're messing up motors which is why they don't show correctly again. Even if you re-adjust them they will still be iffy. Just do the speedo test (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5SpaYxpmM-AZ9E) and you'll find out. Sadly I haven't seen your video before I messed up mine, especially fuel and coolant temp would not show correctly no matter how many times I tried to re-adjust them. I had to get a second hand speedo and I replaced the motors, but I was careful not to remove those metal pins with plastic needles, however one still came out. It just look that they were not design to be disassembled. It all works well for me now and the gauges show correctly but when I do the speedo test the one that came out does not pass the test as it doesn't go all the way to the end of scale as it should. However it does show the speed correctly as I checked with my sat nav. Anyhow, I would still not recommend messing up with the clocks on those Mazda's unless you really have to.

The cluster needs recalibration. One way to do it is to drive the vehicle with the cluster without the protective glass and adjust the needles as necessary.
