The Nyonya Straits piece had two broken handles - the entire middle of each baby dragon climbing the sides were missing, which is my guess why it sold for that price. If one was there, it could be molded and repaired, however with both missing it is a hard repair.

Not here to defend anyone, but I am very happy on my side with Zacke. Great people, good service and some real profesionalism. Yes, ok, they might have sometimes vague dating but boy.. they have outstanding pieces and are gaining more and more interest on the market. Not everyone here in Europe go to Sotheby's and Christie's because their service is less and less good nowadays what would explain why Zacke gets more & more interest and so many masterpieces which are all authentic to me. Well, my point of view...

The 'Nyonya/Peranakan' vase didn't make the money because, for top collectors, this isn't considered Peranakan, so they would not have bid. The fact that there are bird pairs (several different types), and all sorts of other things painted in the cartouche, indicates that this is an export vase for a wedding gift (bird pairs = marital bliss) - thus, not just phoenix birds, not exclusively Peranakan, despite the colours etc.....

I am glad that you brought up the issues with Gallery Zacke, and I would like to remind everyone that, even though they mark some of their items with period, it’s still not trustworthy. A few years ago, I almost tumbled on a nearly 40-cm tall bronze Buddha statue that they dated to Qianlong period. They told me that the owner was from NYC. But why would someone in NYC try to circumvent Sotheby’s and Christie’s to sell a splendid art in a small auction house in Europe at a much lower price? After careful examinations, I found out that it was a modern piece. If you are not extremely well versed in authenticating the pieces, stay away from that gallery

Thanks Peter, Gallery Zacke is definitely sus, some authentic piece starting bid is unreasonable high, and over 70% are questionable even straight fake😅
