I’m an electrician who joined a company who does a lot of industrial work bringing power to tons of motors, switch gears, smart panels and a lot of controls going back to multiple PLC cabinets. We have one guy who does the programming and another who does controls. We have tons of electricians none of which understand controls. You just brought me into the game. Being the first to understand both worlds in this company. I Might not be a professional in controls but I sure understand it now. Thank you my friend

I am about halfway through this video, after having watched part 1. I have basically no PLC background, an amateur electrical background, and lots of programming background. I actually understand now how an input module isolates field wiring from PLC wiring. It became an epiphany as to how the whole process automation scheme works on a grand scale. When the normally open contact to the light bulb above my head became True, I was going "Wow. Wow!" My wife quirked an eyebrow at me. I said, "Honey, you don't understand. This transcends any religious experience!" Hyperbole, of course, and some of you more advanced people may sneer, but I am ever grateful to the folks at plcprofessor for having the heart to produce this video and the balls to make it freely available.

I am currently in my 3rd week of plc class at the local community college pursuing a AAS degree in electronic and controls. I have been working in the automotive industry for 5 years as a setter/maintenance, and i have a good understanding of that side of things. After watching your first video and part way into the second, it is just all coming together at a rapid pace. Thank you! I just wonder why the instructor at the college does not take a similar approach, he seems to be all over the place.

I have been blessed with exposure to industrial automation in more ways than most, blessed with the opportunity to work on processes from every sector of industry, many years as a technician, then as an engineer and teacher. The Lord blessed me with a strong desire to teach what I learn and I learn everything in a way that I can explain it. Regardless, most things come with age and experience. Most of what I learned was not in a classroom.

Subhana Allah ...(All glory belongs to Allah) if one can wrap his head around the logic of PLCs, then one has the Logic open himself to Islam... If Allah favors one with guidance. AbduR-Rahman as far as PLCs go you have more of a advantage then most of us, after all Allah did your kin folk to bring us the "0" lol and the walking computer himself ... Dr. Naik may Allah bless him. Ameen !!! Dr. Naik calls us to worship the Creator instead of the created. Just the way Jesus, Muhammad, Abraham, Issac, Jacob and our father Adam (peace on them all) did. here we go, peace

Yes, you are correct. Unfortunately I normally mention to my classes that this is a representation and not a warranty of actual electronics. In reality there would be a myriad of components between the I/O wiring arm screw terminal and the memory bus. I just thought of a solution, I will make a note to myself to add a note on that section to mention the same. Thanks for the feedback, it all helps. Again, thanks...

What is the class you are taking, if I might ask? After years of both controls engineering and teaching, I still learn something new every time I teach a class. Never stop learning, never stop visualizing your challenges. If you really want to understand something, try explaining it to someone else. You will be amazed at what comes to you when you are searching for the right word picture to illustrate a point.

Jarn Hazir 🤣🤣🤣My computer science friends and I used to call it the "Jaba acshent" because every Java(the programming language) video tutorial I looked up was in an Indian accent, didn't know engineers had the same experience too😆. But Indians are the best, they are very knowledgeable, hardworking and keen on selflesly sharing their knowledge with the world 😊, I feel like you tube needs to have an Indians appreciation day on KZbin 💁‍♀️💁‍♀️💁‍♀️ (My main issue with indian videos wasn't so much the accent as it was the general expressionlessness both in voice tone and in facial expression, not sure if its a cultural thing, but with my attwntion span, the monotony was a huge barrier to learning) As well as a PLC Professor appreciation day, HE'S SIMPLY AMAZING.

It is correct, and I go on to explain why people confuse the input device state with the symbols in relay ladder logic. DO NOT THINK relay contacts when you are analyzing RLL. The NO symbol is true if the bit in memory is ON, the NC symbol is true if the bit in memory is OFF, True if On and True if Off are the symbols in RLL, not Normally Open and Normally Closed.

That would be true for a positive supply, but not for a negative supply like they use outside the US. However, I wish now that I had not used that symbol and made it entirely "polarityless". Most manufactures use sketchy component representations in their wiring illustrations. In the classroom I always mention that these are representations and warranties of information. I added a note that will hopefully allay semiconductor "savvies" from the distraction of what we are actually discussing. Feedback always useful, thank you.

The original recording had several mistakes, but I thought that I had added notations at the correct point in the video. I should probably just correct the slides and re-record the presentation without the mistakes in the slides. Very boring subject, maybe I can come up with something to make it more interesting as well.
