The brown bread (in a can) is a New England thing. It's heavily associated with meals including baked beans (Boston baked beans), hence it's produced by B&M. If you read the can, it tells you to open both ends and push through to get it out of the can. It's also best when toasted and buttered, but will never not have a distinct metallic canned food taste as do many things packaged this way. For those wondering, it's basically a dark, molassesy pound cake where the batter is poured into the can and it's baked inside it during the canning process.

Yup, growing up in Boston, every Saturday night meal with frankfurts and beans included B&M Brown Bread. Mother opened both ends, put the whole thing in her steamer, then pushed out the hot bread onto a plate. It was sliced into 1/4" slices and served as an accouterment to the beans (also B&M).

B&M Brown Bread is actually pretty good. If you looked at the directions on the can you would have seen that you need to open both ends of the can. It should then be heated in an oven, microwave of pot over a campfire. You had the one with raisins but i prefer original with a cream cheese spread.

The dehydrated water is a great gift for campers, they are always trying to save weight. A few years ago I got a pack of 10mm sockets for a mechanic friend as a gift to replace all his missing 10mm sockets (plot twist, the pack was empty and completely sealed)

The bread in a can is a carry-over from long ago. It's best as the date nut bread, but the brown bread is still good. Try some slices heated, slathered with butter and/or cream cheese. It used to be common to find in stores, and before that, it was a common recipe.

I think militaries and such still use it as probably do some relief agencies and such. It is useful as a long life emergency ration that you can hold in a warehouse and deploy quickly when you need to support a bunch of people in an area lacking the infrastructure to prepare and deliver large quantities of fresh food. At that point taste tends to be somewhat secondary those humans need the calories, vitamins, and minerals to not die more than anything else.

I actually bought this same type of chopsticks about half a year ago. The set I bought comes with four pairs and each pair is a different color. Open both ends of the can and use a cut out lid to push it through. Slicing the bread to desired thicknesses as it comes out. Enjoy with baked beans.😊 PS The bread is best when warmed first. Just pop a hole in one of the lids to avoid pressure build-up while warming. Also good with cream cheese👍

Slather on the butter once the Brown Bread is browned and have it as a side (often with baked beans). It's great! It's a bit of a misnomer to call it bread, it's almost a cakeish sort of thing. I promise you that anyone who grew up around Boston knows this product very well! And is probably feeling nostalgic after watching this video.

The Black Toilet Paper is actually made in Portugal by Renova, our largest manufacturer in the branch. They actually make toilet paper in all sorts of colors - I remember about 10 years ago, they even had a vending machine filled with coloured toilet paper rolls on at least one of the main national shopping centres. You'll find that the paper quality really is great, don't worry about using it (most well-off and above people use it here)

Jones Soda used to put out the weirdest flavors of sodas, some yummy and some disgusting. For Thanksgiving they had pumpkin pie soda, mashed potatoes and gravy soda, turkey soda (all gross) and for Christmas they had gingerbread, jelly donut, chocolate and egg nog. I can't find them anymore but it was a novelty treat we looked forward to

Boston brown bread was popular awhile back and recipes called for you to bake it in a coffee can. Also you open both ends of the can and slide it out like cranberry sauce.

We have eaten the brown bread since I can remember, and I'm 54. lol. You gotta open both ends and push it thru, like jellied cranberry sauce! Also, I would totally buy those little sauce holders for the car!
