We bred our miniature goats earlier this year and today is the day we find out if they're pregnant!
Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Maybe you could rig up a trivet to hold the bread up off of the bottom so the entire thing cooks evenly. Kind of like adjusting which placement to put your oven rack in. If your cookies are burning on the bottom, you move them UP a bit. Same principle.

You must be SO relieved that they’re all finally bred! Crossing my fingers that Raven hangs on to those embryos! I’d hate for her to lose them after all the effort. She’s so nice body structure wise that her having fertility issues would be devastating. I don’t comment much but I am a total nerd for your goat breeding adventures! Sprinkle some CORN MEAL, on the bottom of your bread 🍞 and it won't burn as much. The kids in the 🍕 shop have figured that out for the 🍕 crusts & now it tastes better!

I have a soft spot for Raven so I'm excited to see how her children turn out - and it'll be exciting to see if Zorro's excellent dairy skin has helped her capacity compared to Tilly's! Put a pizza stone in to warm up with the oven heating process then take it out, go get the dough for baking, the surface of the stone has dropped it's temp some while you were away, pop your dough on the stone and push it in for the bake....the stone will have a slightly different temperature between the oven base and the bread ..this should make a difference to the bottom of the bread.....🤗😊

DaNelle, have you tried putting your bread on a tray but then lift the tray onto bricks or a stand so it's off the direct bottom heat. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see all the babies being born. Have a fab weekend everyone.

Try putting your bread on an upside down 3/4" high baking sheet to keep it off the direct heat.
