Please don't be disrespectful to other anglers by doing what these two anglers did!

So on this particular day I was trying to make some good memories with my family on the Provo River and two young fly fishing anglers decided to swarm into our area where we had been fishing all day and start casting directly over my wife's line. They were basically trying to push us out of the spot we were fishing so that they could have that spot. Well I'll tell you what! That was not going to fly by me very well and I wasn't going to let them push my family out of nowhere!!! So we stayed there, held our ground and I decided to start casting my Rapala right over their lines and snagging up with them to teach them a lesson or two about respect and to let them know that we weren't going anywhere. Long story short everyone. please don't ever be like these two and show ALL anglers a little respect and show them the same respect you would like in return. Thanks out there to eveyone and please do not think we were singling these two out because they were fly fishing anglers. For I am too also trying to learn how to and get more into fly fishing myself!!!

I had something similar happen when two teenagers came directly across the stream from where we were catching a bunch and started casting right where our lines were (and this wasn’t a large hole meant to accommodate more than two people). I quickly snapped on the biggest, heaviest, most hook laden lure I had and, for some unknown reason, I suddenly became completely unable to gauge the distance of my cast. When the lure “accidentally” bounced off the one kid’s body for the third time they decided to move downstream, probably to where somebody else was catching a bunch. 😁

That's why I try to find out of the way spots and avoid the crowds.

I try to but these kids saw us fishing there first. I just feel like they should have respected us a little more. But yeah, next time I’ll try to find a different spot. Thanks for commenting! 🫡👍❤️💯

Man that sucks. I always feel bad when i accidentally cross someone’s line even though it’s rare. These guys know better for crying out loud they’re fly fishing obviously not new to the sport.

Let me start by saying when a boat has the run of the entire lake and parks on top of a shore fisherman’s lines it is one of my pet peeves. It would reinforce the stuck up fly fisherman stereotype when they cut off another person on a river where the bait section starts. Especially when up the river clear into the Uinta mtns is artificial fly and lure only. However I don’t think they were being intentional jerks in this case. They may not be from around here. In other states especially out east shoulder to shoulder fishing is the norm because there’s so little water and so many fishermen. Also there’s the possibility they were just incredibly stupid. I deal with such people every day and I wouldn’t be surprised seeing this myself. The best thing to do is always keep your cool and give the other person the benefit of the doubt. 👍

ur acting like a child in the video, clearly they didn’t see a problem with it. explain to them the fishing etiquette, respectfully. and ask for some space. if they dont want to give you space then thats fine, they have just as much of a right to be there as you. it is generally seen as disrespectful without asking first but it doesnt help anyone if u get all mad about. set a good example for your kids and be a man about it

I was a man about it! And I did set an example. I didn’t go off on them and start problems with them did I? Exactly! All I did was cast over them like they were doing to my wife. So get out of here with that acting like a child bull crap. They knew better. We were there first. And that’s my wife so of course I’m not going to let some punks disrespect her like that!

You shouldn’t have to ask for space they aren’t little kids. He had zero room to cast with the way they were fishing. As a fly fisherman it’s embarrassing because 99% of the time they’re the ones that do this. Just because you have a fly rod and a pair of waders doesn’t mean you own the water.

It is uncertain on the fly fishing side if they was doing float or sink style. In either case they would not catch your wife’s line unlike your attempts. If anything you was the one that was in the wrong therefore I would say your the example that you tried to make of them. Sad video to post

😂 Look here, it has nothing to do about fly fisherman! I have absolutely NOTHING against fly fisherman anglers! I’m actually trying to learn fly fishing my self from a dear friend. So anyone who thinks I have anything against fly fishing then they are totally wrong. Those kids were in the wrong no matter what kind of anglers they were. We were there first. Then they came along and started casting directly over my wife’s line. They are lucky I didn’t just cut their line every time that I snagged up with their line. If anything, I kept my cool pretty well compared to the person who I used to be. For anyone to see a family fishing in a spot and to just come and cast over their lines just to try and push them out of their spot is plain disrespectful!!!

Na man you’re wrong, it’s called etiquette…a lot of the younger generation was not taught etiquette , it’s nice seeing people out fishing but this disrespectful behavior is rediculous…. Live on the west coast, when salmon and steelhead season kicks off it’s normal for people to crowd but you’ll get your ass handed to you if you are disrespectful like these kids in the video….never walk into another person’s spot without at least giving acknowledgement of their fishing and maybe ask if it’s okay to join if ya don’t one day you’ll meet the wrong dude !!!
