The response at the end was truly a classy move my good sir

I agree with this so much. If you were to say your lowest offer you lose potential of getting more from the sale. It could be less than what they were willing to pay so its not smart

Things like this is why I stopped even doing offers on eBay. It’s easier for me just to start the auction at my absolute lowest price and hope it goes higher, rather than haggling with these kinds of people over and over. Had one guy years ago tell me I lost a sale over $2.00 after I told him my low price was firm, and he never once thought that he lost a figure because he didn’t wanna spend two extra dollars. So annoying haha, I feel your frustration.

That's fuckin wild hahaha. I once had something up for $50, and I got an offer for $40. I countered at $45, and the guy came back at $38 as some sort of "If you go up, I'll go down" kind of posturing. Rather than counter, I declined it entirely. Hours later he came back and made an offer at my original counter of $45. I declined and included a message saying that I wouldn't sell it to him no matter what on principle anymore. Some people's kids, man.

As someone who’s been buying a lot of older SHMA figure on eBay recently, I love the offer opportunity because prices can be so high. I also appreciate when eBay gives the likely lowest number the seller will respond to. I’ll see that and usually make a first offer $20-40 above that, fully expecting a counter offer and we’ll meet somewhere in the middle. So in the end it comes maybe $60-80 more than the lowest, but I also got to take some price off for me. My biggest thing is that I’m trying to get a good price, but as someone who has also sold figures, I’m thinking about the seller a bit also. It does also frustrate me when a seller is only willing to take $5-10 dollars off a $200-300 dollar figure. But then I just move on.

I've been trying to get rid of my leftover stock from the store I closed down on Facebook Marketplace... When I even get a reply beyond "Is this available?" (yes, that's why there's an ad) I've taken to RAISING the price by however much someone tries to lowball me. But my personal favourite time was when someone didn't like the price of something, tried to lowball me by saying that it only cost ___ at the store, I informed them that I was the store and I was charging double what I was now selling it for, and if it cost as little as he insisted I wouldn't even make back the wholesale cost of the item. He never replied 😆

If I get, “what’s the lowest you’ll go” means I’m probably not going to sell to you.

As both a buyer and a seller on eBay I understand. I would feel awkward if I had been asked this question. Still, sometimes as a buyer I'd like to know as you are limited to 5 offers, and I've ran out of offers many times. You do seem reasonable however, and your points are right on. I hope your auction goes well. I guess it's just irritating if some has something up for say $500 or best offer, and the lowest they'll go is $480 this happens a lot. Kind of pointless.

I think if someone messaged me saying that they attempted to make a couple of offers but were rejected and wanted to know more, I would be more open to that conversation.
@chevy-is-a-good-boyАй бұрын
I set a BIN price that's undeniably fair, and I require immediate payment - no offers. Streamlines the process and greatly minimizes exposure to obnoxious offers/requests. But I totally get the benefits of a more open approach.

I've never used Ebay for both selling or buying, but I do used a local olshop. From time to time I would sell my older collection. I usually start off on the mid to lower end because it's either not that desirable or I just want to get rid off them quickly even if they're rare and valuable. I do get people negotiating on the price. And quite some time I got potential buyers that are like this. They asked "what's your lowest" or "how much would you sell this to me". I'm ended up thinking in my head "well, the price I listed them on IS my lowest. Why are you even asking. Made me an offer". I am open for negotiation, especially if the guy is polite and a fellow hobbyist, I may let go for a lower price. But if our conversation is strictly transactional between buyer and seller and they start off the "negotiation" with that, then I would closed it off with "I'm sorry, but the listed price is my lowest". The more annoying ones are when they asked for a price waaaaaaay below my lowest while feeling entitled, or asking about something that is explicit on the description. For the former, since I started off on a mid to lower price range, the buyers seems to know that I just wanna get rid off it, but they took that as an opportunity to buy them as low as possible. Let's say I listed a Gundam for $35 while most retailer would sell it at $50, those buyers would demanded for $15 or so. Of course I would politely decline, even though in my head I would just wanna say gtfo. For the latter it's like, "I only sold this off as a set and won't sell them individually" and then come in people asking "can I just get...only?". But I suppose the most annoying one of all is that some buyers here, would absolutely prey on the reasonably priced sellers to lower their price but at the same time grovel at the feet of scalpers. I already sell my items at a reasonable price, sometimes already at a slight loss, but they still asked for lower even though the items aren't worthless nor damaged. And yet these scalpers selling items at 2x and up from the original price got sold without so much of a negotiation. The market where I'm at is truly an enigma. They'll want items as cheap as possible, even to the point of buying a bootleg that'll require heavy modification to look decent, but at the same time would sell their kidney for an overpriced item that they do know is overpriced without batting an eye. I personally would negotiate when I bought multiple items, usually start off with "hey, if I bought, a, b, c, d, e, and f, can the total be $90 instead of $100". Usually the seller would meet me in the middle and say $95, tho $95 is my actual targeted number. Had I just started off with $95, dude may asked for $98 and we'll settle at $97 instead.

I just moved out of my parents house into my first house with my girlfriend and I’ve had to make rent due to my job transitioning right now. I’ve been selling lots of my SH monsterarts, figuarts, and HIYA stuff. It’s been really cool telling to some people who I know appreciate it. It’s been hard to part ways with some of them. But some buyers have been absolutely disrespectful asking for figures I don’t have on the market. The worst is when people lead you on I had one guy lead me on for a whole month he originally wanted to buy 5 of my figures for $480 he talked me down to $425 and then a month later he asked for only 3 figure dropping the total down to $185 and he asked them for $140 which at that point I would have basically been giving it for free. Worst part was he seemed like I. I’ve guy and we chatted a lot and he actually lives on the street across from my neighborhood on three street one of my friends lives on. Don’t be like me people and don’t let yourself get stepped on. State your prices and leave it be and move on.

Don't forget, the person selling the item has to pay eBay's fees and shipping. So don't be a dumb jerk eBay shopper.

One thing, they cannot offer more than the list price, I have a $135 dollar item up right now and a buyer can't offer more than $135. The system assumes an over the list price offer is a mistake and will kick back an error. I've accidentally offered over the listed amount a few times. For me I usually respond with, "make an offer and we can go from there." Even more annoying that this is when the item sells while they're doing this. I had one guy doing his best to make offers and build a relationship only for the item to sell to someone else, this person didn't realize an item could sell while he was haggling and though I did something.
@michael423Ай бұрын
Everything you say is correct, but from a buyers perspective sometimes the make an offer thing some sellers use as just for show to attract buyers.. I’ve had several sellers have the offer and denied every offer up to $5 off. And I’m not taking cheap items either, one guy was selling a $700 item, automatic denials of $650, 675, 695, sent me a “special offer” of $699. What’s the point at that point.
