Unless you can get that Audi 4.2 in there transverse adapted to the E153, it is kind of pointless. Yes, the cylinder spacing is crazy tight owing to the fancy metallurgy in the silicon alloy block, BUT it pretty much rules out boring or rebuilding one of these blocks without some rare and expensive process. My 2000 A8 produced 310 h.p.. The S8 with cam and inlet changes made around 360. You are better off with the relatively cheap, available, reliable and brand correct 2GR and then the power adder of your choosing. The last thing you want to do is put more weight behind the rear wheels - less of an issue with a straight line drag car, but if you want to carve canyons - TRANSVERSE or bust.

11:53 100% false! Brake torque is a factor of effective radius of the brakes (along with clamping force and coefficient of friction). The effective radius is the radial centerline of the pad and thus a wider pad (radially speaking) for a given rotor size, the smaller the effective radius. All other things being equal, a narrower pad (again, radially) will generate more braking torque than a wider pad. For simple math, lets assume a 14" (355mm) brake rotor and in one setup, a 2" wide pad and in the other setup, a 4" wide pad. Remember, the effective radius is the radial centerline of the pad, so for the 2" wide pad, the effective radius is 6" (2/2 = 1, 14/2= 7 and thus 7-1=6) now for the 4" wide pad, it's 4/2 = 2 and the same 14/2 = 7 but now its 7-2 = 5" (i.e., a smaller effective radius and therefore, less brake torque for the same clamp force and same coefficient of friction. This is why doing like what Marty did (bigger rotor with stock calipers) does give more brake torque (more braking power) and is also better at heat management (not that a wider pad has any appreciable effect on heat management. 14:10 I don't think this one is the first. There was a guy (named Mike too) in Florida who completed basically the same thing on a White car back in like 07 or 08.

I would KLZE swap an SW20. That's a Mazda 2.5l v6. It's possible, maybe, maybe soon to buy a kit to use the MR2s transmission. The reason for that is usually the other way around to get a better trans behind the engine. 7500 rpm v6 with no weight penalty over a 4cyl. It likes to sing, it's not crazy power, but can be turboed. I just don't like 4 cyl. engine sound, EVEN the 4AGE which I had. The engine itself can last a long time, so it's not like a loss there either. Also it had a variable intake which is reminiscent of the MK1's T-VIS, (but not, and an entirely different setup.) No one ever thinks Mazda for swaps, except that weirdo Rob Dahm :-D

What about a beams swap
@RoadsUntraveled Жыл бұрын
I was only really considering non-OEM engines for this video! The SW20 was sold with a variation of the Beams 3S-GE in Japan, available for import into North America. No swap needed for that one.

Funny thing about Tesla swapping. Toyota is working on a all electric manual mr2...

Lol wtf is a manual electric car? The Porsches have two gear transmissions but that's pretty uncommon.
