I had an mr2 for 6 years and loved every minute of it. Moved on to BMWs when the rot became unfixable. Now I love the torque of the i6 engine. A 3.5 v6 mr2 is my dream car. I'm in a Z4 currently and it's good fun but a supercharged 3.5 v6 sounds like a wet dream to me. :-) Luv and Peace.

Moved my daily onto a straight-six BMW, but kept my MR2. The BMW is definitely faster, but the Mr2 still wins when it comes to being fun to drive.
@ianedmonds91918 ай бұрын
@@dasstig5274 I remember a road trip with a bunch of my friends and one them had a 320i with the 6 and made 170bhp. At one point the guy in the rover 620 Turbo put his foot down and everyone tried to keep up. I was shocked my MR2 with 174BHP was getting gapped massively by that BMW. It just walked away. After I understood that the MR2 made crazy high power at 7250rpm but the BMW (2.2 i6) made crazy torque from 3000 rpm. It was my introduction to the power under the graph. Fast cars make power everywhere. I bought that BMW (Belonged to my boss) and ran it for seven years. Very special car. Cheapest six but had about every other box ticked including BMW Individual Paint (Tourmaline Violet) and Individual Leather. Blueberry Nappa Leather. Purple Interior. Looked like a very special car. I did miss revving it out to 7250, it only revved to about 6800 but is did sound great. Totally under stressed engine at only a 2.2 it had no major faults other than the plastic cooling tank leaking at about 120,000 miles and a passenger occupancy sensor at about the same time. Eventually after 150,000+ miles the tin worm got to the sills. I bought a couple of replacement sills and painted them myself. They looked OK but someone made me an offer on the car that I couldn't refuse and I let it go. Very special car. Now I'm in the Z4 which is great but I yearn for another MR2 with a 6 and a blower. Luv and Peace.

Not gonna sugar coat this... I've spent a lot of time and money into my 2nd gen 3sgte, but if I could do it again, I would definitely do a supercharged v6. Would be more fun. My car makes probably same power or maybe even slightly more, but tons of LAG. Problem is the factory gear ratios do not work well with bigger turbos if you want to go fast in the twisties and keep the motor in its happy place. The supercharged v6 motor seems like a perfect match for the mr2.
@matts_.44943 жыл бұрын

Peter Chhan Google is always not the answer so that’s why I asked. Physically not possible. Makes sense. Thx for clearing that up. 👊🏽
@PeterXChhanX5 жыл бұрын
@@nasteegolf7 no probs. Just thought it was common knowledge but we gotta start somewhere haha. Mr2s and most short wheelbase cars need engines mounted sideways for best packaging. Thats why when midengine cars with longitudinally mounted engines like ferraris and the ford gt they are long. Cars that are FR layout and have long hoods can accommodate the 2jz whoch is considered a long engine.
@stephenbello10815 жыл бұрын
The right straight 6 is not entirely impossible. The Volvo B6304T5s is one of the few in line 6's packaged for FWD. Or while your in the Volvo parts bin consider the B8444S V8 which is also packaged for FWD. Its banks are at 60 degrees for compactness and the heads were done by Yamaha. But the power of both is so close to the 2GR-FE that neither would be worth the trouble.
