I think one reason why AlphaDream went bankrupt would have to be related to the Mario & Luigi remakes. While Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions was a success, seeing as how it refined several issues the original had, their biggest mistake was remaking Bowser's Inside Story. The logical step would have been to remake Partners in Time, but they allegedly assumed that since people loved M&L:BIS, why not remake it? Too bad it suffered from a lower frame rate than the original and ended up with low sales.
