I agree with you about a Noah. We congratulate Letsile for his incredible performance. But some were acting like Noah is over and finished just because he lost one race. So dramatic.
@TheWayWithKhuwayne18 күн бұрын
100% agree. I think a lot of people were waiting for him to fail than actually praising his performances in the 100m and 200m. It's honestly sad but at same time, now there is a story for the 2025 season and whether Noah can successfully attempt the double or triple gold from Budapest. While nothing is guaranteed, I do think a healthy Noah is one of the few guys currently in track and field who could pull off the Triple Gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x1 based on his skill level and his previous succession doing it before.
@DevLife71718 күн бұрын
Running with the 2020 cough cough will definitely slow one down. Going forward though I think Letsile is going to continue to challenge Noah and occasionally win simply cause Letsile is only 21 years old. He is only going to get faster and better.

The Sydney 200m win was impressive, but I think it should be viewed more soberly. A win against Gabby outside of USAs and major championships isn’t as impressive as it’s made out to be. Gabby is a championship runner.

People want to say that Gabby lost to Sydney because it was early in the season, and Gabby wasn't in peak form yet, which was true. But the same narrative also applies to Sydney. It was early in the season for her and she wasn't in peak form yet either. The bottom line is Sydney, a 400m hurdler beat a 200m specialist at her own game at that moment. Now, I am not going to say that if Sydney had run the 200m at the Paris Olympics, that she would have beat Gabby, but if Sydney had run the 200m in Paris, I definitely believe she would have run sub 22 seconds, and would have had a really good chance to win a medal.

Easy answer to separate casuals from hardcore is do they watch track all year starting from the indoor circuit to the last DL meet on the calendar. Everything is nuance even track athletes don't watch every event so I'll never used that as a basis to separate casual from hardcore. Watching every event are knowing the big names every event makes a super fan of the sport.

You're segment focusing on the improbability of Russell winning the 100m hurdles in Paris: As you said, that race is always highly competitive and trying to pick a favorite from one day to the next is impossible, one minor miscue and you're out of the medal hunt.

I was happy to see her win. The best we can probably speak on right now is JCQ's consistency. If she doesn't win she's usually standing on the podium somewhere. The others can't say that. Her form is top tier from start to finish.

Yes Guot Guot didn't enter the 100m @WU20s, so why make it an issue that he didn't win it?! Bolt never entered the 100m at those Champs, literally didn't even run the 100m until Jul '07 about 5wks shy of his 21st Bday when he ran 10.03 (+0.7), so were ppl supposed to dismiss him & the talent he'd shown up to that point cos he never ran the 100m let alone never won the 100m @WU20s?! Has long been confirmed by his coach/team that Guot Guot's primary focus in '25 will be the 200m (not the 100m) esp @AUS Nationals, at the few WACT & DL Meets he'll be entered into & @Tokyo WC. Quick Facts about Noah; the improvements to his 60/100m PBs since '22 from 6.55 to 6.43 & 9.86 to 9.79 has literally not translated into an improvement to his 19.31 200m PB/NR from when he only ran the 200m event @'22 Eugene WC. Since he started doubling 100/200m @Major Meets, has literally never run sub 19.5s in the 200m Final; ran 9.83/19.52 @'23 Budapest WC, 9.83/19.53 @'24 US OLY Trials & 9.79/19.70* @'24 Paris OLY Covid Final. Would've needed to run well under 19.4s to beat a 19.46 Tebogo who was slapping his chest 10m from the line!

@@cylvaniaallen4498 Conventional Track Wisdom dictates that such improvements to his 60/100m PBs should've translated into a noticeable improvement to his 200m PB, but has been odd watching it have the opposite effect! The fastest he's run in the 200m since '22 was the 19.47 (+1.6) he ran in the '23 London DL race that saw a 19yr old Tebogo in 2nd place (19.50) closing the fastest I'd ever seen anyone close on Noah in the 200m! Has also been odd seeing the effects doubling has had on Noah as it hasn't had the same level of dramatic effect on his 2 main 200m rivals in Tebogo & Kenny who've been able to produce their best or very close to it in the 200m Final with 3 100m rounds & 2 200m rounds already in their legs same as Noah! Tebogo ran 9.88/19.81 @'23 WC Finals as a 20yr old Rookie, then 9.86/19.46 @'24 OLY Finals & Kenny ran 9.87/19.59 @'24 OLY Trials then 9.88/19.62 @'24 OLY Finals.

All the talent in the world doesn't matter if those individuals are unable to work as a team. That is the issue with the 4x100 team. We have 4 very fast men, but they can't work together as a team.

team USA needs to have trails for the 4x100 guys need to get together their own teams pick who they want then race and if they win the trails then they represent because have 4 individuals running it isn't working. Even when they should easily win they don't because they are not a team.

We wiill eventually have two sports for men, and a lot of sports for women. there will be 100 scholarships for football and 20 for basketball. then each school will divide up 120 scholarships for women among 12 or so sports--TF and CC are two--all because of title 9. i timed NAU meets for 20 years--and one meet was strange- 8 schools, but NAU had the only men's team.

Naoh hadnt even lost a qualifying round at the 200m until the Olympics when Letsili did and then did again in the final, Noah blamed the covid for losing the final but there was no mention of the qualifier which happened b4 the 100m final that he won, i think a huge part of the mens 4x100m team is lack of practice together, most of the time theyre off doing their own thing and when it comes time the coaches in charge take the top 8 fastest times and throw them together trying to make a decent 4 man team, teams like Canada, Jamaica, GB etc train together quite often and in the case of Canada have only changed 1 member in i think 12 yrs, it doesnt matter how fast the sprinters are if they cant make a baton pass even mediocrely

Spot on about Gout Gout. The same people giving you grief will be trashing the poor kid (or forgetting him altogether) if he doesn't live up to their expectations. Abby is an American and many of us want her to succeed. But Abby hasn't run under 22 secs since '22. She's not even in the top ten, all of which have done so since. She's still quite young tho so there's hope but she has to show and prove on the track. Sydney is simply in a class of her own, no matter what she runs. For me, the 100M Hurdles is the best race in Track right now. 110 hurdles, honorable mention. They are fast, furious, treacherous, dangerous and beautiful to watch... especially with these track railcams. The 100M hurdles isn't just a toss-up by a bunch of scrubs, these women are challenging the world record regularly. I do wonder what is with you constantly trying to downplay Worlds Coach. It may not be the Olympics but I don't know of any one who doesn't "take it seriously". Being "World Champion" is the next best thing to being "Olympic Champion". I absolutely look forward to it this year.

Noah Lyles wasn't the favourite to win the 200m in 2024 cos he barely trained for it. Noah lost Olympics in 2021, so it wasn't his gold to win but Andre Degrease's because Noah is not a 200m Olympics runner. In addition to that, Noah can not handle running in both the 100m and 200m Olympics races very well. He was as healthy as he could be after running that 100m, so he should focus on training for endurance cos now the circuit has other athletes who can also drop 19.40s after running the 100m. Last year Noah won the 200m simply because Tebogo had an injury in that 200m but you know what, he didn't make that an excuse cos he said he wanted to see how his body could handle 100m & 200m. About Noah always being the first on the curve, that's really not the case cos at the Olympics trials, he was behind Kenny after the first 100m. He just thought he could run everyone down despite Kenny promising to get him in their next race.
