So cool… I love these old knives. I have a few from 1920’s and 30’s. The quality of the craftsmanship is mind blowing. I love the fact that I can still carry and use a knife, that someone else had in their pocket almost a hundred years ago.

have the twin brother / sister of this knife - I was told it was a WWI knife and can opener - mine however have a bit of the handle /scale material chipped iff so i repaired it with epoxy and tried to stain / colorize & grain it to blend in (not a brilliant job but convincing enough from a few feet away) Heavy and very robust knife - thanks for sharing yours

From what I can find, these were made all the way up to the early 1940s, but the pattern is the the 8173/1914. It seems there were also two other variants that were made: one with stag handle, and one with a nickel handle.

My grandfather was in the US Army during the First World War, don't think he saw any action, but I've never seen anything like this little beauty in any of what was passed down to me from him. Please let us know what you find out. Thanks Paddy

Vulcan (Sheffield) T.Ellin & CO 1886-1944. Two star collectability rating With C Houston price. With brass liners assume its early WW2 or earlyer. I don’t have a couple of my books handy (they are packed away in anticipation of moving soon) to see if there is anything on the tang stamp to date it more accurately. I would stab a guess around the 1920’s but a pure guess, someone with better knowledge would most certainly be able to give a more accurate date. Hope this is a little help ❤
