In Sweden we have the municipality that provide lunch at a low cost for our elderly, if they want. They deliver it at the same time every day. Never thought about how convenient it is.

Hey Claus. My parents are in a similar situation and we got them a Calender Clock, aka dementia clock because that's a great salespitch. 🧐 Anyway it displays the date, the time, weather, stuff like that in big bold letters and icons but it can also be used to set an alarm on it from your end. So you would be able to send them a picture of a pizza and the time when it should arrive. Then it start beeping like crazy so loud it really can't be ignored. It's basically a tablet so there's probably an app for that on the Ipad also.

Pizza with tuna, prawns and mushrooms does it for me... Make sure what's in the cupboard is altered every night, so the fish gets flavored differently at tomorrows dinner... About your moms bad hearing... There are technical devises that deaf people use to alert them if the door of phone rings... It's a lightbulb hooked up to the phone or doorbell... Maybe if it lights up a picture of you...?

On Tuesday I took my mother (80) to my father (80) in the nursing home so that she could see him again, he had 9 strokes and is demented. He left the family 40 years ago and she saw him for the first time since then. That was a very touching moment, and the time before he left us played like a film before my eyes. I don't know if what we have here is also available in Canada, we have meals on wheels here, which is offered by social associations and churches or clubs. 3 different dishes 5 days a week for around 7 euros. Lunch with soup and dessert. They bring it straight to people's doors. maybe this is a good idea for ur parents. Greetings from Germany.

Hey Claus - What you need for your folks is a piece of *old* technology, not this new-fangled stuff. It's called a "teletype machine." You may spot these machines if you watch some old movies or TV shows made around the 1960s or earlier. They had a typewriter-like keyboard and a spool of paper that fed through on which you typed your message. But they also had a telephone dialer with which you could connect to a similar machine anywhere in the world. Once connected, what you type on your machine will be typed onto the paper of the connected machine. And yes, I'm old enough to have used one for business purposes. But for you, this would mean your folks would have a printed message in real-time in front of them without having to take any actions on their part, such as opening emails or text messages. And no hearing aids are needed. Sometimes, the old ways are better for old folks. NOTE - yes, your voice DID change because, like tank rounds, it attenuates as it spreads out, loses volume, and gains an echo effect. NOTE # 2 - the pizza was delivered, but where? Maybe he simply left it at the door and your parents never got it.

My wifes grandmother was funny and forgetful. We would visit once a week. My wife would pick up a card from the sideboard and get her gran to tell me it was a lovely card from the nice man down the road and the reason for the card. The following week, my wife would do the same again, and I would have to feign not knowing. The gran told me the WHOLE story repeatedly for months and months, and every week I would have to make out I didn't know anything about it.
