Papa roach gave us what we needed as teens. Ronnie gave us what we needed as adults, especially in this day and age.

This has the same vibe as disturbed singing sound of silence. The original is ICONIC, but this version brings more emphasis to the lyrics. Papa roach sang the song like teenagers angry at the world. Ronnie sang it like an adult looking back and realizing they still fell the same way. Its nostalgic and somewhat tragic, but that makes the song so impactful to everyone who grew up with the original imo

Exactly my reaction to this. THIS SHIT HAD ME IN TEARS FROM REMEMBERING MY MENTALLY ILL EARLY TEEN YEARS! I'm 21 now and this shit took me WAAAAAAAAY back. Like I felt I triumphed through it all and this was me looking back at my past self telling him it'll all be fine. Amazing reaction and I am happy this was the first video I watch of yours cuz you are raw emotion and don't care if you share that online. Respect!

I love both versions so much but for two totally different reasons. One for more of an angry, anxious depression, the other for the really low, deep melancholic depression.... like two stages of grief....If that makes sense... Hard to explain... I cant get enough of this one though 🖤

I love how we all us elder emo's reacted to this the exact same way. We went from Angry Teens to Sad Adults lol.

@@elderemunk exactly! I will say that I unfortunately still carry all that anger from my teens as well as all the grown up, broken adult feelings..... But music helps me through it all 🖤

Ronnie reimagines music in beautiful ways, whether it's originally his own or something that someone else put out there first. Having fully experienced this with The Drug in Me is Reimagined and I'm Not a Vampire (Re-Vamped), I did actually expect the softer approach and lovely piano for this one... but the reality of listening to how Ronnie does it is always better than the expectation. That said, you did get my first listen/watch on this one, and I have to say -- I'm crying. The original song never affected me that way, despite having been "in that place" many times back when that song originally came out, but now hearing this in my 40s and being able to look back at the road I've traveled to get to where I am now, just wow, tears are flowing. It's been a long time since I have been in such a dark place because thankfully I've got support that has helped me struggle forward, but my heart breaks for people who don't have that. The fact that everything fell apart, but then literally got put back together. Oh my god. People commenting before me said (paraphrased) that this is the adult version of a song originally filled with teen angst, and I have to agree. The visuals here speak so loudly to the fact that we, as adults, are expected to put ourselves back together and look okay even while broken inside. The city is fully put back together, even as he screams that he's not alright. I saw someone mention The Sound of Silence as well, and I figured I'd chime in to say that there are actually 3 versions of that one that I love -- the original, the Disturbed cover, and the completely acapella version by Pentatonix. It's the same lyrics each time, but such a different approach that it might as well be 3 different songs, because the feeling is different... while listening, and after the song is over.

I have to wait until 2-Oct to see em, so fucking excited, course, haven't seen A7X either so will be a kick ass concert. Little worried since I'm a little older but I made it to the 2nd "row" in the pit at a NIN concert with 128K fans (course was in 2000) so I may be bloodied but will be so fucking hyped after both sets.

I enjoyed your reaction. I agree with the things you said. This song does hit differently now that I'm older. This reimaged version shows the depth of the lyrics so much more than the original. Papa Roach did a great job with his version but I think this one strikes a chord in me that his version didn't quite hit. First time seeing you show up on my suggestions and a new subscriber. Can't wait to check out some of your other stuff.

😢💭 Everybody's talking about Ronnie's emotional take on the song and, my mind goes straight to Jacoby from Papa Roach, who actually wrote those words. How sad he must have been while everyone was happily headbanging to his song. I'm glad he's ok now ❤

I was a junior in high school when the original came out, and I've sang along to ever word since then...but I never HEARD this song until Ronnie sang it like this. Ronnie is such a special talent. I don't know why people have such a problem with him, I think he's dope AF. Maybe because i'm also a bit of an asshole, lol.
