since this vid a housing estate has been built close to the carpark & the trackbed has been lost to nature, there is a lot of memorabilia sat about the headgear including a roadster so it is deffo worth a visit to anyone wanting to know about our mining history

Anyone visiting pleasley colliery now is in for a shock ! The old headstocks have been sand blasted and repainted and old blistering concrete have been removed and renewed. Inside the winding house is a fully working winding gear. They are working on another winding gear to look the part too. Open days are in the beging of september usually between 11th and 13th. Damn good day out and being local to me is great.

I remember the guy throwing himself down the mine. It was sometime between 1983 and 1985. The Pit had already closed down but there were still people working there dismantling things. He used to work at the pit and then set up the barbers shop just near pleasley square and that ended up closing down and not long after he committed suicide at the Pit.From memory he had told his wife that he was taking the dog for a walk but not sure if he threw the dog down the mine too. I grew up in Pleasley.
