14:26 a bit of trivia, that Waltzer outside the sandcastle is Taylors of Edinburgh, they have been going to my town for a Gala day and other areas around Scotland for many years, including of the time of this documentary!😊

How this park ever survived with that management attitude I'll never know

They were awful. They should have just let them on and be done with it. The management were just stubborn and wanted to have the last word.

To be fair, you should really have easy access for disabled people. Especially when, at the time of filming pleasure beach was the UK number one tourist attraction, it's quite bad. I love the pleasure beach very much, but that is quite bad tbh especially with the attitude towards them, why should'nt people in wheelchairs or else wise disabled be able to go on the ride with every one else?
@dawnhilton39434 жыл бұрын
Four years ago..its changed its wheelchair policy and entrance policy since then.

They have disabled access on rides, always have had it but if it’s not safe to load some disabled guests then they need to wait. I’m disabled myself.
@lukanw2 жыл бұрын
The problem was that the law was too loosely drafted and many companies misinterpreted it to mean that they should ‘provide disabled access to places and to accommodate such individuals within reason’ whereas the law was designed to ensure that disabled people had the right to the same experiences as able bodied people without restriction. Companies were also given a timescale (can’t remember the one for DDA95) to implement the changes required. In this case it meant altering the coaster in such a way that it wouldn’t break down if you needed a prolonged stop in the station. It’s worth noting that certain rides even to this day were given an exemption to the law based on their age (Big Dipper, Revolution etc) and even the Equality Act 2010 didn’t amend this

We all love the 90s and for good reason, but it's sometimes easy to forget that it was a different time. Those disabled people would never be painted as the villains as they are during this documentary if it was made today, and there is no way the rollercoaster would be allowed to open without full disabled access if it was opened in 2021.
@lukebennett71492 жыл бұрын
It's not access. It's slowing the ride down in peak times.

I love going BPB but this demonstrates exactly why legislation is required to force companies into treating people equally. The excuse the disabled should give way because the others have paid their money was insulting. The disabled had paid the same

Amanda Thompson OBE has already said that the park can't keep relying on old rides. So I think it's going to be a combi what I like about Amanda's current things is she is keeping big attractions her dad created big one, Valhalla and now launch pad ❤

Interesting how the park used to have free entry and only charged for the rides. They should still do that now if you ask me. I mean the wristbands are good but entry should still be free
@Theme-Park-Kingdom8 жыл бұрын
As well as wristbands (which are fantastic value) you can also get a £6 Pleasure Beach Pass which allows you access to the park as well as unlimited access to the Pleasure Beach Express, Chinese Puzzle Maze & Dancing Water Show, you can then buy individual ride tickets with that. The small admission fee has allowed the park to improve dramatically in terms of having a welcoming atmosphere as well as safety. I'm all for it, the park is so much better now than it was 20 years ago!
