It's such an easy assumption to make since the stereotypical cheater is the man in the relationship, but leave it to akane to imagine the gender roles being switched to figure out that there is still a chance (50/50 at the very least).

I like how they showed the loophole in the animation. Instead of straight up telling us the answer they show that "thing" replacing the father in the family and having it impregnate Ai, basically showing that it wasn't Himekawa's "father" that was the cause of Ai's pregnancy, but someone else.

I mean, I noticed it before Akane even brought it up. I was like, "Wait, why isn't Aqua questioning this? Why isn't he wondering if the father of his half-brother was Aqua and Ruby's father or if there was someone else responsible for the deaths of the 'murder-suicide' couple, just like he used a proxy to kill Ai?" And this explains it. Aqua WANTS it to be over. So he's not looking too closely at something that seems incredibly obvious to anyone looking in from the outside.

Like others have said, Aqua’s line of reasoning is as follows: 1. Taiki Himekawa’s biological father is my biological father. 2. Seijuro Uehara is dead. 3. Therefore, my biological father is dead. 3 only follows from 1 and 2 if you assume “Taiki Himekawa’s biological father is Seijuro Uehara”, which has not been proven. That’s what Akane’s thinking about - Aqua didn’t tell her any names, dates, or hair colors.

Loophole explanation Akane edition. -Aqua assumed that his biological father is Uehara, and that Uehara cheated on Airi with Ai while they have a son name Taiki... but negelect the possibility that Airi is the one who cheated with the actual biological dad making Uehara not the biological father as we can see from this episode that is the case as the biological dad made the appearance. Loophole explanation for viewers: -Taiki just turn 20, the twins are 16 soon to be 17... very soon. Taiki parents died when he was 5, Ai mureder happened when the twins was 3 as Ai had just turned 20. Remember she gave birth to them at 16 so her birthday had to past. So it's not possible at all for Uehara to be the biological father as he died when the Twins were 2 years old. Not to mention Ai literally called the biological dad days before her murder. So many people didn't question this... when I was reading this I kept asking that question.

To add... it's literally impossible for Akane to get the age gap inconsistency... that is for us viewers to realize Taiki story and the age when Ai died. However, Akane put the possibility of Airi being the one who cheated on Uehrara and not Uehara being the father of Taiki. As we all can see that the biological father is still alive.

I’d give it better-than-even odds she knows who his parents were. And she knows Aqua was working closely with him recently - in the past couple months, the people he’s had the most opportunity to collect DNA samples from are the Tokyo Blade cast and crew.

Therefore, she wouldn't know about Uehara and Airi's death compared to the age of the twin. The easier explanation from Akane knows, there is a possibility that the mom is the one who cheated and not the father maming another person in the mix.

I THINK the loophole is that Aqua assumed that because he and Himekawa shared a father, that Himekawa's dead dad was HIS dad as well. What he failed to consider is that... there's no definitive evidence that Himekawa's dad is actually his dad. If he and Aqua share a father, and the blonde man at the end of the episode is Aqua's dad, that would mean that Himekawa's mom was the one who cheated... with Aqua's dad

If anyone wants to know what the loophole is, they're gonna explain it later, sadly not in this arc iirc. But if you want to be spoiled is basically this: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The dates don't match. Akane knows about Himekawa's backstory, so she was able to put 2 and 2 together and figure out that he's Aqua's half-brother. She also knows when this took place as it was a big scandal back in the day. Comparing Himekawa's age, the death of his parents and now the incident with Ai she figured out that the dates don't match if the guy who killed his wife was the common father, as he died BEFORE Ai was killed. The loophole that makes the dates match is if the father was someone else alive at both times, meaning that Himekawa's mother had an affair with another dude, who later had his way with Ai too.

We catch bits of Akane’s thought process here, and she doesn’t mention the dates or Himekawa - she does note “double suicide”, but if anything, the strongest emphasis is on “scumbag man”. But the biggest point to me is that she calls it a “loophole”, not a “contradiction” - it’s not that it’s _impossible_ for Aqua’s father to have died that day, it’s that he _might_ not have.

So the most important aspect of this episode is making clear that Aqua is a reincarnated 30ish yr old playboy doctor who used to bang nurses. He stopped being a playboy round when he became an idol otaku. Namely when he met Sarina. Kana notes he acts like he is 30, the anime itself points it out, Akane points it out, Kana points how smooth he is with women, and Aqua even notes that Akane is falling for his deception which she wouldn't understand even if he told her. Aqua shouldn't date Kana nor Akane. They are *not* on a level playing field. He has years of experience on them and he had been manipulating them. They essentially met and know him under false pretenses.

if you want to know the loophole: Himekawa is 20 and the murder-suicide took place when he was 5 so 15 years ago. In this arc, Aqua is 16 and Ai's death was when he was 3 so 13 years ago. A man that died 15 years ago can't commit a murder that happened 2 years later.

No the loop hole was Akane figured out that the dad was still alive because the double suicide wouldn't make sense unless an affair happened. At least that's what I got from it as an anime only. So she figured out that his dad is still probably alive and was having an internal battle with herself because if she told Aqua he would go back to be all about revenge which she doesn't want but she also doesn't want to lie or hide it from him.

A comment I saw on another video made this point about Aqua's relationships with the girls. While they both work pretty well with him; you'll notice that Aqua goes out of his way to be kind and considerate to Kana. On the other hand, Akane is the one who goes and does stuff for him. He treats them both well, but there is definitely a bias in his decision making.

I don't know which is true but there's two possible scenarios I'm thinking of: 1) as many have said, the one cheating was Ai instead of that dude who died and that's why those 3 died, the father (Ai's partner) may have wanted revenge of some sort. 2) Ai wasn't really cheating but rather they needed a donor for her to be pregnant and maybe their father (Ai's partner) wanted to keep the children for himself so he arranged both the murder-suicide and Ai's death.

I like that this episode shows that Aqua is aware of both girls feelings for him, and now that his revenge is out of the way he's allowing himself to feel his own feelings, and he's also aware of the fact that his relationship with Akane can easily turn toxic, so he ends it before it takes that turn. Me thinks is a really nice way of showing that people with a mental health issue are still capable of experiencing love, and he's honest with Akane telling her that those feelings aren't a priority. But now that "he's free" he can allow them to be a priority

One of the bolder rearrangements from the manga in this episode! There, the Kana date chapter comes after the Akane and Ruby scenes, providing a bit of comic relief. The way it plays out is, Kana offers to help him pick a suitcase out that afternoon, but he can’t because he has a date with Akane. Kana: “Tomorrow, then! The day after is free for me too!” Ruby: “Seems every day is.” Then he agrees to tomorrow and leaves, then Kana’s depressed about this “work relationship” that’s been going on for quite a while, then we cut to Akane. I saw one person opine that Aqua comes off as more dickish this way, especially after Himekawa chided him for how he’s handling the love triangle. (For my own part, I dunno. I think even this way, he does seem to be trying to resolve things and do right by them.) Anyway, we did see that Aqua had Kaburagi’s DNA tested back in season 1, and I think when the Tokyo Blade premiere ended, we saw that he had DNA samples from several people. So it makes sense that he’s been pursuing more options, but the total number is definitely striking, especially hearing how much money he’s put into them.

alicia the dates do in fact not match, taiki himekawa is older than aqua and ruby by three years. taiki ends up in the orphanage after his parents die, and in that time ai gives birth to aqua and ruby which is only possible if aqua and ruby's dad was alive to actually impregnate ai. and since we see aqua and ruby's father (who looks like aqua) at the end of the episode, just shows that taiki's father was not his biological dad most likely (since the DNA states theres a 99% chance he and the hoshino siblings share a father). the simple loophole from all this put together is that taiki's mother cheated on her husband with aqua and ruby's dad, not that taiki's father was the one who cheated.

The loophole being that more than likely the double suicide occurred most likely due to drama like say an affair. But Aqua settle that it must be the father that cheated with Ai to have him, but the possibility never crossed his mind of Himekawa's mother cheating with another man instead and that man being their biological father. A simple DNA test could've proven the Himekawa's dad might not be his biological father like he thinks. But Aqua just wants to move on deep down, he just accepted the end at face value. That's why Akane's scared to tell him that possibility cause then he'll be back on vengeance mode

I’m leaving this comment here AFTER watching the episode myself, but BEFORE watching the reaction: I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!!! I knew that the dates didn’t match and that Aqua (and Himekawa) supposed father, (Uehara) would have been dead for like a few months, if not a year or more before AI’s murder, if Himekawa informations are correct… Now my theory is that sure, the DNA test results are accurate, Aqua and Himekawa ARE indeed brothers who share the same father BUT Himekawa thinks that her mother’s husband (Uehara) is his biological father, which he isn’t… And that’s probably because his mother was seduced by this as*hole and became pregnant… She was initially able to fool Uehara making him think that the baby (Himekawa) was his, but then, when he was 5 something happened: maybe he was hospitalized and/or needed a blood transfusion or something like that, (Could also be something that directly involves DNA , but I feel that something regarding a different blood type would be more likely) and that’s when Uehara realized that Himekawa was not his son and his wife had been cheating on him… So, in a fit of rage he killed her and then killed himself… That’s how I think things went, more or less… (I could also very much be HORRIBLY wrong) And I was right when I thought that Aqua didn’t dig enough, didn’t investigate properly, because he was subconsciously trying to find a way out, thinking something like: “Okay, they’ve just told me he’s dead, so I won’t ask any further and unnecessary questions, but just accept the fact that he’s not longer alive and take this opportunity to finally be able to live my life to the fullest like I’ve always wanted… TBF we also know that that bastard and Ai talked to the phone just a few days before AI’s death, while Aqua doesn’t… But now that I think about it actually doesn’t matter if Aqua didn’t know that those two talked to the phone… We know from episode 1 that they had “JUST TRANSFERRED” to that new apartment (I imagine at best a few weeks earlier, not before) and the stalker couldn’t possibly have gotten that information from someone (Uehara) who had died AT LEAST one year before…
