longtime subscribers maybe remember my video from 5 years ago of a John Deere 4755 ploughing, fast forward to 2020 the 4755 is now replaced by this 8400 and Rumptstad optimus 480 five furrow plough. The Goense family are big fan of classic en youngtimer Deers and owns a fleet of the most iconic tractors which they still use for all daily activities on there arable farm. They bought this 8400 in France a few years ago and adapted it to their wishes like the open pipe which roars loudly through the polders of the Island of Sint Philipsland in the south west of the Netherlands.
Link to the 4755 video's: • Good Ol' John Deere 47... // • John Deere 4755 w/ Lem...

Nice sound, nice driving and good looking ploughing. And great use of gas pedal. It is so annoying when some drive with hand gas and there is 2000 rpm all the time even when turning around and shuttling from forward to reverse. It is so nice that there is not any pointless music in video.

I'm not a frequent commenter, but I have to give credit where its due on this video! The subject is great from the off. The combination of new and old set up in what seems perfect harmony is a bit of a gimmie in any respect, but you absolutely nailed the video by not ruining it with music letting the music of the engines through beautifully clearly, especially on that straight pipe. However the icing on the cake with this video without a doubt is the editing. You've hit the lovely sweet spot of not being so long that even the most avid viewer would use it around night night's time, but not so short as to enduce epileptic seizures in those that don't even suffer from the illness. Lovely close ups in just the right light, angle and zoom, nice broad shots showing the work as a whole. Everything screams professionally executed about this video. Very well done! 👏

How do the conditions look challenging they couldn't be better conditions
@eatingamandarin
@eatingamandarin 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, perfect for plowing; but overall a challenging environment to be producing a crop. Heavy sandy clay-loam soil. Soil varies from one end to the other; heavy clay on one end, sandy-loam clay at the other. Noticing the grower's machinery, they often deal with wet conditions. Limited opportunity to remove the compaction zones (which will be there from the previous crop). Driving on wet clay soil immediately after plowing will unavoidably compact the soil, even though they minimize compaction with surface area of rubber-to-ground contact. The farmer must have extreme confidence in the following weather conditions. Otherwise they're making a billiard table. All the more fun I guess. What are your thoughts @Danny Broughton ?

Very nice video!! No lousy "music"... I'm curious... will the wheat be plowed under come spring... or will ripen and be harvested for grain? The tractor sounds great... Good runnin' machine!
@alexveldhuis6004
@alexveldhuis6004 3 жыл бұрын
Guarantee it's winter wheat that will be harvested come July. Winter sown cereals are bred to go through winter in an almost dormant state and have been developed to 'vernalise'. This means they have to have been exposed to frost to develop grains come Spring. Other crops are sown to be ploughed in, but they tend to more voluminous green material crops.

@alexveldhuis6004
@alexveldhuis6004 3 жыл бұрын
Because the tractor's draught system lifts the plough slightly each time the pull becomes hard, placing more pressure on the rear wheels. Look up Massy Ferguson Draught System. All manufacturers have it these days and use the top link to provide the input stimulus to operate. John Deere use lower link sensing. All fully mounted ploughs use this and that means anything u to six furrows. Bigger than six is usually semi mounted and rely on a wheel. The front may still provide draught sensing input, but not the whole plough.
@alexveldhuis6004
@alexveldhuis6004 3 жыл бұрын
@@KAWoTReplays No, it is simple draught system. Plough goes in, as it does, it pushes on the top link making the lower links lift slightly and that tranfers weight on the back wheel for added traction. It then lets go to retain depth and constantly repeats the process. It is old as the hills and one reason why smaller tractors with small ploughs can be more effective than great big monsters that do not have draught control plus big ploughs that are more of a dead weight
@davidoleary2452
@davidoleary2452 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexveldhuis6004 I understand draft control but with lower link sensing it seems strange not to have a rear wheel on the plough Every kevernaland has 1 on their Using a 5 furrow without a rear wheel this way puts a lot of work on the tractor that's not needed I can pull a 5 furrow keveraland at 20inch with 7618 Massey Ferguson in very heavy land with no problem this machine is under pressure
