I had a great time! Met some more great people. One of these years if fuel is more reasonable I’ll have to tow something from Canada down. I’m the last guy to get my video done but I was also the last guy to get home I will try and get it done today!!! Stay tuned

One feller in Pennsylvania, completely restored to working order, one of these, a later model and brought it to the Steam show and had it shoveling. Video is on KZbin! Turn of the 18th century stuff!

This Thew Automatic shovel was early in Panama until the Big shovels came, then went to work at Bear Creek in the Yukon gold fields. Then moved to its current location to work on the big water ditch to provide hydroelectric generation power! No small adventure to move this thing.

🎉🎉🎉🎉how incredibly awesome this was. I’m an oldish man of 76. Only spent a few weeks at my uncles farm in the late 50s. Have always lived in the city and lusted to be like those that farmed. Watching this plowing with beautifully still useful equipment was beyond words for myself. I’m amazed how perfectly the soil was flipped over so neatly. To have friends like this is what farm life is about…. And I think it’s that way the world over. Thank you for sharing Plow Day

That drone footage showing the moving line of demarcation between the gorgeous grass stubble and the freshly turned earth is a thing of beauty. And I can't even imagine the preparation that goes into all the equipment used and the days and days and hours and hours of hand polishing those plow faces so they turn the earth so perfectly. Lol. Good for all you guys!

What did y'all end up planting? I bet it is a grass crop of some verity, I ain't there to really feel the ground but it looks like there is a hard pan setting up under parts of that field. Next time run a shank ripper through it first. Rip then cross rip , moldboard , float drag the highs, then pulverize with a sand dolomite mix added. Broadcast seed clover at night on the next new moon. ( Helps keep the wildlife from eating all the seeds) Drag a spring cultivator over to get the clover in deep. Come spring time moldboard then anhydrous ammonia then your sweet corn and sunflower . Knee high by the fourth of July! Yee Haw cash crop.

That was absolutely awesome and entertaining. Something I've never seen. Old tractors plowing up a field. Growing up in a small Michigan farm town north of Flint Michigan I did see farms plowed but the equipment was way newer. Mostly Ford and Farmall tractors. A few odds and end ones I can't remember.

Great! Reminds me of Old Tyme Plow Day here in southeast Pennsylvania. I never miss it with my 1940 Ford 9N and 16” one bottom. I’ve acquired a 14” Ford/Ferguson two bottom which I should have ready for 2023. It’s in April and we usually have somebody grilling burgers and hot dogs. Attendance is around 20 tractors. In past years a D2 showed up but I haven’t seen it in a couple of years. Plowing old corn stubble is a pain. I always take a small army surplus shovel along to clear coulter jams.

@ 7:35, I've never heard such a term as "the field crown", other than on a football field. anywhere around here in the midwest, it's called the "back furrow". A raised ridge left at the center of the strip of land when plowing is started from center to side is called back furrow.

So what are you planting in those fields... wheat, barley, or clover maybe? That soil looks pretty good. The small farm I grew up on as a kid was a bit too sandy so we were limited on crops. We grew mostly vegetables. We had one acre fenced in with a small barn/coop for animals like pigs and chickens mostly, but also rabbits, goats, a cow once, and even a horse. We had a second acre for growing mostly vegetables like tomatoes, green beans, carrots, potatoes, peas, beats, cucumbers. We also had some rhubarb, strawberries, and blackberries. We made cheese with the extra goat's milk and canned or froze everything else. We also got salmon and s blueberries from my dad (he leased out an old 10 acre blueberry field to a larger grower and they could not run the shakes all the way to the end of the rows because of the ditches). We also had another farmer that would bring my mother venison and apples. We sold mot of the goat's milk to people that could not have cow's milk. We made pickles and jams and jellies and baked most of our bread. Anything we did not eat we would sell, but mostly the food was for our large family (my mother had 6 kids and I was the youngest) and we were poor (my dad was not, but they got divorced when I was 4). I hated farming as a child, but now I am grown up and have a messed up back... I wish I could farm. My favorite channel is the Veggie Boys. I wish that was my life.

@@squatch253 Well, I have a Snap-Coupler plow for our Allis WD45 (that I've never plowed with lol), but I'd have to come up with the parts to put on the tractor that would basically disengage the hand clutch if you hit a rock. We don't have rocks down here, but if I plow up there that'd be a necessity. I also need to find a way to convert it to throw away wear parts. It's a 3-12" (I know, odd combo), and it has the old style two-piece moldboards that you had to take to a blacksmith to have them re-sharpened. And they're pretty worn. Only issue is the only repop parts I've seen to let you convert them are for the 14 and 16 inch moldboards, and I don't think the frame is adjustable. If I can do all that, and convince my grandpa to let me haul it up there (which would be a chore in itself LOL), I'd definitely love to come.
