Thank you for the memories. As a baby, Grandma would be put me in the cab of the tractor with Grandpa whenever I was fussy. I'd be asleep in five minutes. I rode with Grandpa for hours. 68 now and it makes my eyes water a bit thinking of Grandpa and the tractor. Thanks again.

Nothing quite as sweet as the smell of a new plowed field. Used to sit on a little hill and watch my Grampa plow his fields with two old mules, then he was able to buy a tractor, it was a small Farmall. I remember him telling gramma that the first few rows he plowed he yelled Whoa! at the end of the row! 😊 Loved my grampa!

Brings back memories. Dad trusted me to do plowing at age 10 with a Minneapolis Moline ZA and a 3 bottom plow with no hydraulics, so yanking on the rope. Learned to always look back to make sure it tripped. I was too small and light to change the setting for plowing the headlands so tripped the plow putting the moldboards on the ground, then could release the lever lever moving the much lighter wheels to the right position. Eventually graduated to the UB diesel and a 4 bottom hydraulic plow. Then the M670 propane with a 5 bottom semi mounted plow. Was amazed to be able to plow a swath as wide as the tractor. Happy Thanksgiving.

Plowing is a lost art in the US. We haven't done it for 10 to 15 years. We did the same thing, plowing up an old pasture. Had to borrow a plow and fix it before we could use it. Great job. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I for one didn’t realize the knowledge and all the different features on equipment that go into plowing. I grew up in a small rural town surrounded by farms in the 50’s, but knew nothing about plowing and all the intricacies that are required to do it. Seeing the old equipment that built America being restored and used is testament to the craftsmanship, durability and ingenuity that went into those machines.

I miss the smell of fresh plowed ground ... Back when I was young , it was common to plow your fields every fall... When I was 15 I bought my 1st real tractor . It was a Massey Furguson 165 diesel . (I think) I loved the rythm of the diesel at work... Some of my fondest memories are growing up on the farm... Happy T.G.

The soil looked to be just about right in moisture to fully break up when turned. I always liked it that way when I plowed. Now, I no longer plow as I have native grasses and relatively native ground. I love seeing this!

Second gear was plow gear. It doesn't hurt to use one less bottom. In fact I remember farmers recommend one less to minimize wear on equipment. We used a 3 bottom on our M tractors. We plowed about 120 acres of 200 every year. I suspect you have more clay, and for sure more rock. Thank you Pete

I always plowed the headlands in conjunction with the last few rounds of the field. You didn't have to "deadhead " over plowed ground that way. It was a big "no-no" to leave wheel marks in a plowed field.😃😃

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Very cool video. Good to get the MD out there stretching her legs. Plowing and disking are my favorite jobs. I can smell that dirt as you're turning it. I never really like closing in the headlands. After plowing for hours or all day, you're tired and then you get to bounce over what you just plowed. I think finishing the field wears me out more than the whole rest of the day. 😯😯😯

In USA - HAPPY THANSGIVING everyone! Plowing must be more technical than discing fields. When dad needed a field tilled, I was his go-to teenage daughter. Being too young and passive to ask for a promotion to plowing (always felt like I missed my opportunity). Thanks for bringing back great memories Pete.
