The Chrysler Pacifica is one of the best minivans on the market, and the Pacifica plug in hybrid takes all that you love about the Chrysler Pacifica and makes it more fuel efficient. With more than 30 miles of EV range, the Pacifica hybrid has real world benefits that no other minivan on the market can match. The Toyota Sienna comes close with its hybrid powertrain, but it's noticeably smaller than the Pacifica when it comes to cargo. Neither the Honda Odyssey nor the Kia Carnival offer hybrid systems, but they do offer competitive cargo space. If you want the best balance of people space, cargo space, and efficiency, though, the Chrysler Pacifica might be the best of the bunch.

We test drove one, and the salesman had me put it the transmission in Low (L) to get the aggressive regen. When I took my foot off the accelerator, it slowed quickly with that electric generator drag rather than coasting. The entire test drive was in EV mode so I didn't see how being in Low affects normal hybrid driving.

Interesting! I didn't even notice that on the dial, but it makes sense. It drives VERY well in normal hybrid driving, with decent pedal feel for a hybrid. Thanks for watching!

Still associate that name with the original gen crossover SUV it started as (wonder if Mrs. Jax would like that more? 😁). . But I understand it's a better name to use than "town & country" 😬

One thing I didn’t hear you mention was that the hybrid Pacifica qualifies for the $7500 tax credit, which makes the price even more competitive.

The one thing that I don't get is the small console storage area. The thing is not that wide and not very deep. Think the cheaper models have a large storage area below the LCD screen, but the higher priced trims remove that for the wireless charger. The Pinnacle has a large console storage area so it would be nice to be able to have that as an option without spending the money on a Pinnacle. Great job on the video!

It's a Limited. You can tell by the center console in the front. In the Touring L the center console stops after the cup holders and is just an empty space for the most part. In the Limited it goes fully into the dash and creates a covered storage area underneath. Also, I wouldn't call the seats in the Pinnacle orange exactly. They definitely look that way in pictures but in person they look more like the color of a tan Rawlings baseball glove.

Chances are you can get a good discount at the Chrysler dealer. Chances not so good you can get as good a discount at the Asian brand dealers.

This is the delicate balance: while the Pacifica might be less reliable over time, when warranties are considered and total cost of ownership (along with cash on the table incentives), the difference might not work out the way people think. Considering how good the Pacifica is inherently, I think this is why a lot of people are moved in the direction.
