It's interesting how a different take on a plug you already know can cause you to see it and use in a much different fashion. Mike's comment about being made for a base caused me to pull it out on a Memphis style track I've had laying around for multiple years now. Flash forward a couple hours and it's strapped across pretty much the whole track and the thing finally sounds the way it's sat in my head forever. Nicely done, Michael.

Put this on a song yesterday, and it instantly made the mix 3D. This is a must have for me, especially since i'm currently mixing completely ITB. Thanks for the excellent review as always!!

I absolutely adore this thing! Most authentic tube sound I've found in a plug in yet!
@joost37832 жыл бұрын
cheers Michael, you are one of the few people who accurately match gain by ear. I always do it too and it's just so refreshing to actually be able to tell the difference. I mean you can even if it's louder, but it's just much harder IMHO. Thanks

I´m in love with this plugin after 2 days of trying out. It´s just beautiful sounding. So rich, smooth, hifi, deep. A new reference, like the Kazrog True Iron was or the Unisum is now? I would say yes. A dream team came together to found Neold :) Thank you for the interesting indepth video. Cheers

Hello, thank you for another awesome video.. I have always really liked and and appreciated Your videos. You are very knowledgeable and a matter of fact I like that. I also dig the background stories which gives me better insight and knowledge. I have this plug-in and I really really like. Thank you.

I was thinking whether the company name was some amalgam of NEW+OLD. Like “old technology in new format”...
@jvonnjvonn4688 Жыл бұрын
wait why dont u have the send knob where the pre amp is at it triggers the compression

Slate London module gives this exact same character but is more flexible IMO. This mix knob on this plugin only mixes the compression, the saturation is applied to the whole signal. If anybody wants an option you can try using slate London and FG-76 together. I know some people may not enjoy Slate Mix Rack though. Thanks for the videos Mike, you rock edit: I would say the neold wins on the compressor section though. I don’t care for the audified one.

apart from the sound ,vmr is a solid concept which many have adopted (mcdsp,psp ext.) should be a universal standard so every developer could make a module for it...without ilok of course

It’s a very nice character preamp/compressor considering the price tag - $29.

How is this compared to the Audified version?
@mixingwithmike4 жыл бұрын
Much warmer sounding
@doc316484 жыл бұрын
the audified version has a lot of "hair" in that plug which you can't dial out...it sounds ok; but not like this..this nails the sound
Sounds exactly the same to me I've tried both chose the plugin alliance one.

Dude with all my respect how the hell are you going to hear the difference between fast attack and auto when your comp doig -1.5 db of work? Most people wont even hear plugin working at all at that stage of compression, and you are trying to demonstrate attack speed.
@georgesoros78494 жыл бұрын
The volume should be higher than what you usually listen to.

Not too impressed by this.. I'm sure they will update. Input gain is almost not noticeable. Not sure what the linear does and I watched a few reviews of this. I'll keep an eye out for updates. I have just about every plug in from PA so I'm being very unbias here.

Sadly, most of the sonic contrasts you are demonstrating are largely lost on the KZbin audio. Your ch.12 (metal hat shriek sound) makes me wince every time it hits. The demo would be WAY better with that channel removed. Otherwise, it seems like a brilliant plugin. And a cool, vibey song to show it off. 2 Questions: 1. Most of your gain changes were between 66-72dB . Is there any usable sonic difference added in the first 50 or so dB? Or is all the action at the top 10-15% of the input? 2. Can you clarify the intended usage differences between Make-up Gain and Trim? Why would a user choose one over the other?

Hey, many of these points could be made much more effectively with TEXT instead of stopping to declare what you are doing next, again and again. The intros are superfluous info as well; 25 min could be made into a much better ~10 minutes, imho. As it is, it smacks of wanting to hear yourself talk.
