Gotta love the Plumb Victory! That's a super nice head. Great video.

Thanks man! I'm you know I love a good plumb Connie and cant help but like it a little more when its a victory. It adds just a little bit of extra cool factor knowing its WWII era.

Will make a nice axe some day. It is a little on the heavy side to be perfect for me 3.5 is my favorite. It would be a mean chopper. Darren
@Nsvens89Ай бұрын
Thanks Darren! I'm right there with you. It is a bit heavier than what I would typically grab for a work axe also. In all honesty if I'm not sure what kind of chopping I'll be getting into I usually grab one of my boys axes. They even work great as picaroons when you bury them deep into big rounds when bucking up logs. This would certainly out chop and out split them though. All the more justification to have an axe for every occasion haha

I have not yet found an axe without a kerf cut and wedge, very interesting. I definitely need to remind myself to step away if things aren't going as planned. This hobby has always been fun and relaxing. I just recently broke three gunsmithing bits on my current vise project. I should have walked away. Great video Nate.

It's definitely a hard thing to do sometimes! There has been so many times it stops becoming fun and then stuff usually goes sideways even more lol. When it happens my default is to pick something super easy and and quick gratification project to get back in the groove. Or just start cleaning the shop. It always needs it and helps clear the mind lol.

You are so right about being in the right mindset, and stepping away when its not working out. I rushed a Pulaski build for a friend and it turned out horribly. Had to order a new handle and start over.

Thanks Joey! I think its something we all really fall victim to from time to time but I am definitely working on being more mindful about it. Every time I do it the project eating away at the back of my head. Perfect example is when I did the first hang on the rounding hammer. I had to go back and fix the hang it was bothering me so much haha. I should have taken a step back from the start. Its always a learning experience in the shop.

It looks like it was used as a hammer more than an axe. The bit looks nearly perfect !
@Nsvens89Ай бұрын
Haha very rarely do I come across an axe out in the wild that has no poll damage. Very happy with the bit on this one too and I'm a sucker for the victory stamp!

Lovely plumb there! I feel you. Sometimes I walk into my shop and I putz around and end up back inside cuz sometimes I’m just not feeling it! Got a beautiful 5 pound plumb Dreadnaught Dayton permabond orignal handle and stickers just minor surface rust if you would be willing to trade for that plumb Connie? The Dayton is a beast of an axe, original edge never sharpened! Thought of you the second I found it at a local antique store. Would def be willing to trade for a true plumb Connie (like this one?) or a true temper Connie if you have. Doesn’t even need to be on a handle. I’ll shoot you an email about it! You should def do a Blueing video! Would love to see your process as I just started getting into it.

Hey Mike thanks for watching! I am a fan of this Connie but that Dayton you have definitely sounds interesting. I may be able to be persuaded to part with this one shoot me an email nsvensen89@gmai.com I have covered some of my bluing processes in a couple of the build videos I have done in the past but a stand alone video for it is a good idea. I will throw some links to my videos below where i have blued some heads hopefully something in there helps you out! Usually, those frustrating projects for me include permabond or an eye that is going on sideways. On a separate note, I'm not a fan of the kelly eye grooves either ha ha.
@Nsvens89Ай бұрын
I've got a couple of permabond heads I haven't touched for that exact reason as well as a red warrior Dayton that's still sitting on the rack haha. But the project that has the top frustration factor was that tape measure I did. I'm still mentally recovering lol.

The Kelly Dayton or the Plumb Connie.
@Nsvens89Ай бұрын
I was keeping a rough tally in my head, and the 3 heads that were pretty close were the plumb Connie, paper label jerseys, and the phantom bevel Kelly perfect. I will need to take an official tally soon!
