How to add a radiator to an existing central heating system...PART 1
Today I show you how to install a column radiator onto an existing heating system on timber frame wall in a new room. I'll show you how to get the wall built, how to install the pipes and how to board out proper anchorage points on the wall to hold the weight of the new radiator.
The next video will cover the piping up of the radiator, teeing into the heating system and balancing for use.

Jamesy Boy...you're not still using pushfit stopends on pipework that you're going to be later reconnecting!?!? You crazy kid...instead use a couple old push fit isolation valves. Makes draining easier and avoids the "oops" if there's still a bit of pressure in that pipe. Also a rolled up rubble bag makes a good water catcher. Cheers matey.

I have the evolution mitre saw. I built garden room with it so had lots of use. It's great for DIY but it will be nothing like as good as the professional Bosch mitre saw James is using. I wish I spent more money and bought a makita or bosh professional. When you chop woood with the evolution you can see the cuts are quite straight and you have to mess about it but never quite right. Even straight cuts when it's locked on zero are not right. I had to change the bushes and I'm only on the second blade although I have a diamond blade and a cement board blade. Again lot of use bur they are a bit crap.

Multi tool and lots of blades. Leave the laminate beneath the stud work. Mind you, I'd be more concerned about the expansion/contraction gap. Or lack of one. Especially, since the laminate is sandwiched twixt stud and screeded floor with plugs/screws.

Hi James , heating system in our two bed ex LA property is 8mm micro bore with 22mm flow and return would it be acceptable to add a rad by cutting into the feeds to an adjacent rad instead of going into the 22mm (which is the opposite side of the house) ??? The master plan is to tap into a bedroom rad f/r and drop directly below into the kitchen below to add a plinth heater .your guidance would be appreciated. plus how's the flying hope you are building the hours ? When your Missus starts saying she hates the flooring in that room, and wants you to replace it, you have a problem. I always place 'strengtheners' in, when fitting a stud wall that i know a radiator is going to be hung off. I get the customer to show me where its being hung, and take measurements from the rad.
